Watch the video, cars did try to move out of the way, and cops still used them as cover. Traffic was stopped, so not much room to go anywhere

When you hear sirens you stop the car and let cops go through, you don't get out of the car on a freeway. I don't think anyone expected the cops to get out and bum rush the truck.

Bro you are full bown retard. I was on a highway, exact same scenario except light traffic right outside knoxville tn. I had no idea WTF was going on when a truck passed me at 100 on the right side shoulder, next thing I know 12 cops are about 5 seconds behind passing me everywhere. They called the chase off as soon as it hit Knoxville. It was two armed robbers who robbed a hotel on 66. They stopped the chase and had a helicopter, and caught them an hour later with zero shots fired.

Now if I know I'm mid crossfire like the one car trying to push 3 cars in front of him, fuk that I'm running over cops and dipping out straight into the divider and hopefully make it 10-15 feet away. I'm sure everyone on the road was in pure shock because it happened in seconds. Its hard to say what you would do when police with rifles take over your car, IDK.

this just in, user bigdumbrodozer injured in traffic accident.

early reports indicate the forum member came under fire for making boneheaded remarks on the board and had attempted to flee towards more friendly LEO forums when the bike he was riding made an attempt on his life.

hospital staff report that user suffered minor head trauma and is expected to make a full recovery. "anything involving this man's brain is guaranteed to be minor," a surgeon at the hospital assured, "there was nothing in there for him to injure." doctor angus pfister is chief neurosurgeon at misc general hospital and is highly skilled in microsurgery; "unfortunately, i expect him to be back in uniform in no time."

police have confirmed that they have the motorcycle in custody and are set to arraign the bike on the charges of attempted murder, assault on an officer, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct on friday.

Why blame the cops and not blame the people who caused this situation to happen? If they dident do this then 2 innocent people would still be alive

Also these are armed fleeing felons who just SHOT A WOMAN IN HER HEAD when they robbed the store. That changes everything

Says it right here

Members shall not shoot from or at a moving vehicle, except as a last resort to prevent imminent death or serious physical injury to the officer or another person.

In all sincerity, I don't know if you're personally bias, or absolutely fuking stupid. Perhaps you're from Miami, and have family who are LEOs, or are a LEO in Miami yourself. If not, then certainly some other bias that's causing you to genuinely post all of the above. You are typing properly, so you aren't drunk or on any substances. Or legitimately, you may be an absolute fuking moron, with more chromosomes than you know what to do with.

I say that kindly.

The entire situation was made worse by direct engagement.

-If they are firing when police approach the vehicle, don't approach the vehicle. They are dead locked in traffic; where the fuk are they going to go in the UPS car? And if they do manage to bulldoze through traffic, you have aerial surveillance on them. Have you never seen chases ending in a standoff on a highway? They're dealt with appropriately, not a bunch of fuking trigger happy wanna-be police officers looking to get some action at any cost other than their own.

And all those fuking idiots looked to have gotten in on it, cowering behind vehicles - not crouched at the engine block after they've gotten the passengers out of the cars safely, but with passengers stuck in traffic with no where to go.

I'm disgusted with the way Florida law enforcement handled this. I think every single person who witnesses this footage is in agreement too, this was handled so bad it looks like an amateur cartel shootout. Pathetic.

And now the hostage is dead, shot by police. I have lost more respect for LE after seeing this. Seems its getting worse. I'm almost in agreement now with the UK not allowing all cops to carry.
Kind of ironic...
Cause the hostage is supposed to be killed by the criminal not the police.

What would you have done in the situation (srs). I would have handed it over to the state troopers and allow them to follow by air until the guy went somewhere less populated.

But what if he went to a place even more populated like a mall or club? The police would get blamed either way unfortunately
That's what we do in this ****, brah.

I'll lick boots all day long but I can't on this one. Really saddening that two innocent people died in this situation. From one of the views I watched, you have cops firing in the drivers side door it looks like, yet no one is even visible from that side. They were congregated on the passenger side, so even if firing back was justified by whatever means, it was unquestionably haphazard and reckless.

I have so many questions but my biggest, why not just ram the side of the truck on the open road if your plan is to charge in guns blazing when the vehicle stops? Why the fuk do you wait until it is the middle of dozens of civilians to start recklessly shooting? And when the criminals have had a chance to re-position themselves and place the hostage in harms way. Ram it, get out as fast as you can, and drop the fuker before he even gets out of his seat if your plan is to just blast away.

Can't imagine what was going through the UPS guy's mind. Probably thinking if he cooperates the police will save him when it comes to an end, and yet he died at their hands. Unfathomable. Wonder if I would have the balls to leap out when the truck slowed down or something. Impossible to know how you'll react in that situation though. Wish the UPS driver would have tried though.

Man, this one really pisses me off and depresses me.

- Violent homicidal felons take hostage
- Hostage's life is in danger, thus deadly force is authorized
- Cops endanger everyone in order to save hostage
- Cops kill hostage anyways
- Cops also kill bystander

I know an ex-marine NRA instructor and he says generally not to trust law enforcement with weapons due to chit training. I think this is a good example.

I feel ya bro, its one of the few threads I've seen on here lately that really bothers me. I saw in the video cops didn't just have pistols either, they had high powered rifles which will go through 1/2" thick solid steal. When that one cop dumped an entire AR magazine into the UPS truck those bullets went through every layer of the truck, through everyone inside, then out the other side of truck and kept on going. Everyone in that UPS truck was instant swiss cheese, almost like the cops were trying to murder the hostage. And I use the word murder carefully with much respect, but to me this is right on the line of murder not manslaughter...Murder. This incident has once again changed my perspective on things, its a tough pill to swallow and I think I'm still processing this whole ordeal. I truly believe changes need to be made now within the government concerning police officers and justice needs to be served. There will always be crazy people robbing others with firearms, so does that mean each time innocent people need to die as well? Like many said there is protocol for these types of things but it seems that went completely out the window this time. Why?

Still can't believe they didn't just have a chopper follow and lay off with the cops until suspects got to less populated area and maybe even the suspects would think they got away with it. For all we know if the police stayed back then the UPS driver and other's would still be alive.

i really don't see the issue.

If I was a a pursuing cop and got the chance then I'd pull out my AK and fill the UPS van with lead, although id aim at the criminal not the driver and if the driver escaped then id just shoot the fuel tank and take out the whole van and the criminal with it.

Which is what I guess they tried to do.

If I've said it once I've said it a hundred times, cops should all have an ak47 in the pursuit vehicle, no crim is going to escape when you are lighting him up with an AK.

No need for 50 cops with 9mm's when the pursuit vehicles are letting rip with 60 mag AK's.

I was thinking, this is some hollywood sht where you have people just firing away through doors, or walls, then checking the other side to see if anyone was left alive. That's exactly what it looked like.

I don't even know how this one is going to get approached. It's not a situation where you have one dumb cop who decided to shoot first, ask questions later. Half the department unloaded on the truck. How do you even handle that? The town would be unpoliced if everyone who fired was suspended. I'm still trying to process this one too. How can so many officers make such a terrible decision at the same time. I just can't wrap my head around it.
