There's multiple ways to interpret Bill Gates' calling to read a week per year: social norm being one way. He perceives himself to be a successful intellectual, looks at the groups of other successful intellectuals and notices their inclination to read, and then decides to "fit in." Weak mind! Create your own adventures in real life! Last thing we need is a stronger excuse for incels to stay in their homes, and then develop a superiority complex because they are applying a behavior that they deem fit to automatically place themselves within the successful intellectual category.

With that said one of these days I'll read "Name of the Wind," and perhaps its sequels.

Consider the founder of McDonalds who made it big when he was in his 50s and compare him to a guy like Zuckerberg who made it big in his 20s. Are you really going to tell me that the McDonalds guy was lazy from age 20-50 instead of unlucky?

And this was a quote from a time when books were basically the most accessible form of entertainment for all - like Netflix is to us today, and Einstein labelled people bookcels haha.

Ironic how far we've fallen when people can't even read books for pleasure anymore because the dopamine stimulation just isn't strong enough for most TVcels.

Do you think Bill Gates had time to read endlessly on the sidelines during his early days of Microsoft? Singular focus, passion and obsession made him a winner. I guarantee he wasn't reading much then because he was an active agent on the battlefield with no time for theory.

Victory has now defeated Bill and he's the equivalent of an inactive Prophet watching over mankind reading his books, passively pondering over life's big questions birdeye viewing the world. He's a Billionaire Monk.

If you want to win at anything you make it your mission. These clowns reading 52 books a year have too much time on their hands and end up overanalysing theory (I don't know enough excuse) without taking practical action. Do you think if you read 100 books you receive 10 mil?

Was never into books but forced myself as a new years resolution a two years ago. I really wish I started earlier and feel like I missed out on such a great pastime.

I'm reading the Stephen Kings Dark Tower series about 20-30 mins a night before bed and it's outstanding.

There's so much clickbait bull**** about what the extremely successful do.

Here's the real formula: 70% pure luck, 20% natural born talent which could also be considered luck, 10% obsessively grinding on one thing, not being "well rounded" and "well read".

I thnk reading fiction books are really good for your mind
allows you to use your creative/imagination part of your mind which we hardly use these days
