Next week, the US decides ALL painkillers are banned in the United States for purchase because of some perceived danger. This includes aspirin and Tylenol. A doctor says "I cannot believe they didn't make an exception even for us". That doesn't mean he agree with the ban. It means a that of all people in the society, they are the first ones who would need said item, and it's absurd to take it away from people who literally need said item to do their job correctly.

I fully understand the gun community's disdain for most all of our government. I don't get it toward beat cops and local law enforcement.

This is a great analogy, because the people who need aspirin the most aren't Doctors, but every day citizens. This is exactly the case with law-abiding citizens/cops and guns.

This brings us back to:

Listen, I apologize for coming off as an azzhole, was not my intention. If I offended you or anyone else, I am sorry.

In regards to the M&P, I watched numerous vids, shot it, before I bought it, I always felt it to be a tad bigger then the G19. Thicker if you will. It felt like a pissing contest and maybe I overreacted and acted like a little bitch. I am a man and could admit when I am wrong.

Compared to 4? Not a lot. Supposedly they improved the barrel and flared the magwell.

Some people like finger grooves, some hate them. The Gen 5 doesn't have them.

Yeah I like the grooves, I picked up a Glock 43X today, getting used to not having the finger grooves, like the fact that they have it all matte black. I might ditch my G26 if I like this one as my off duty.

Finger grooves, Gen 4. No finger grooves, Gen 5. Biggest noticeable difference. (followed by trigger face serrations)

I have all three.

Mine too, but for some reason I can't find a comfortable IWB holster that I am comfortable with. No point in carrying it in a pancake because of the bulge then it's not really concealed.

Supposedly updated better sights too. I haven't even taken it out of the box yet. I have one more permit to use. Not sure what I want to buy.

what's their not to like in comparison to The G19? it's literally the same dimensions, albeit a tad bit heavier

Ok, I deserve that. For one, for a while they were only stocking ones with the thumb safety, which I didn't want, took me forever to find one without it.

I had a Stealthgear for it when I carried at 430. I have an M2 Tactical for AIWB (local company) but it's a full size gun, so it will conceal like a full size gun.

What's everyone's opinion on buying a used handgun from a reputable shop? I just got my pistol permit 2 weeks ago and was checking out some guns at my local shop, and they had some used ones that looked in real good shape. They were all $100 or more less than buying new. I'm trying not to break the bank here, but will buy new if I have to. If anyone buys used regularly, what are some things to look out for or check before you buy? I don't know chit about handguns really, never bothered since I was never even legally allowed to brush a finger against one until 2 weeks ago.

Check the condition of it. Look for rust, check for excess wear on the slide. Whatever model you're considering, look at whether there are any common failure points. What do they cost to fix?

on generations of glocks, i have mostly gen 3 with the exception of one gen 4 G21. IMO gen 3 is more aesthetic, but gen 4 feels slightly better in my hands. want to get 2 gen 4 G17s and 2 gen 4 G19s.

in fact glock is basically the only type of traditional semi auto pistol i own (with the exception of a beretta 92FS) you simply cant go wrong with Glock, they are dead nuts reliable, low bore axis, inexpensive and magazines are somewhat interchangeable in the same caliber and double stack configuration.

Currently I have a 4.5" sig mpx. Any recommendations on how to safely secure it in my bedroom while still being able to access it in a reasonable amount of time? Having a 4 year old, there is just no way I will keep an unlocked gun near me.

Its a pretty small subgun but still appears too big for any of the common pistol bedside lockboxes.

Any other tips for safety and small children? Im really terrified of an accident so the gun is just stored far away in the basement and completely useless ATM.

ETA: ^^ most important thing is to keep it inaccessible to your kid. I’m not aware of good quick access safes for that size of gun, so others may chime in that way. Best may be to get a pistol that can fit in a quick access safe.

What Ike said, more or less. Used guns are a great way to get into something without breaking the bank. Most ppl never put a lot of rounds through a gun before getting rid of it. Without knowing more, it’s a safe bet to say most of the time you’re gonna be gtg as long as there isn’t excessive wear.

I'm considering buying a used one in 9mm since I already have a ton of mags and ammo that will feed, or should I steer clear?

www.tacticalwalls.comis a great option for magnetic locking concealment.

You could always leave the gun out with the bolt back and keep the loaded mag in the safe.
