Regarding the holes on parts of the plane, depends on quality of photo and angles. Some pics have what look like holes, whereas other pics of the same piece plane from a different angle show rocks or debris.

Why the fuk are people even getting on 737s when they are known death traps that even trained pilots can't even fly. Boeing is the biggest scumbag company in the world.

737's seem to have been some of if not the safest airliners in the world even though they're workhorses.

With that said, some of the regular 737-400/800 have crashed before due to poor engineering. Best example of this I can think of was the dual-servo valve debacle that caused rudder hard-over and sent three 737's in to the ground killing everyone. These happened in Illinois, Iowa and Colorado I believe and during the 90's. Also got that pickle-fork issue now as well.

All in all, wood fly on / 10. just not the MAX, ever.

This one was a 737-800, manufactured in mid-2016 and just had its last general inspection.

There's no fukkin way that a 3 year old plane crashed just after takeoff due to technical issues. Obvious that Iran accidentally shot it out of the sky, absolute Neanderthals.

For those talking about the 737 failures... this is a different jet than the one that has been in headlines lately for failures. All of those (MAX) are grounded, this was an 800 model.

Also, Iran has refused to turn over the black box to Boeing for analysis, which would be used to determine the mode of failure. Wonder why?

The Ukrainians also withdrew their statement from this morning where they said that the crash was due to a technical failure and excluded the possibility of a missile attack/explosion, and their prosecutor decided to open an investigation

Ukraine has refused to rule out that the plane that crashed in Iran and killed all 176 on board was struck by a missile.

The foreign ministry in Kyiv confirmed that everyone aboard the Boeing 737-800 flown by Ukraine International Airlines was killed after it came down shortly after it departed from Imam Khomeini International Airport in the Iranian capital of Tehran.

Initially, Ukraine's embassy in Iran said on Wednesday morning that engine failure caused the plane to crash and denied that it was terror-related or that a rocket had hit the aircraft.

But it later withdrew this statement, saying that anything was possible, and Mr Zelensky instructed Ukraine's prosecutors to open criminal proceedings over the crash.

Good for them, considering the situation in Iran I certainly would not just be taking their word for it that it was a mechanical failure. Considering it was completely engulfed in flames well before hitting the ground. I don't know much about aviation but that seems like quite the failure, and a more likely result of an anti-aircraft or surface-to-air missile.

They're not turning it over to a US company because of the chit going down right now, it's not indicative of any wrongdoing

Initial reports are saying that "Western Intelligence Agencies see no evidence the flight was downed by a missile". I'm seeing speculation that a catastrophic engine failure could be to blame, would explain the fireball, and would send shrapnel flying towards the fuselage, which would also explain the holes visible in pictures

i'd argue there is evidence that it was not an engine overheat/malfunction as was initially stated. An Iranian official told the IRNA news agency that a fire had broken out in one of the engines, causing the pilot to lose control.

Engine malfunctions can certainly cause planes to crash, but generally not in the manner observed with this flight. The wing, not the engine is what keeps a plane in the air, and even if a plane loses power in all its engines, it can still glide for a considerable distance under pilot control (e.g. the miracle on the Hudson). Even if an engine catches fire, flight crew usually have time to respond.

Iran's explanation also came implausibly quickly, before officials had scarcely had a chance to pick through the still-smoldering debris. Iranian officials who had initially endorsed the engine failure explanation have since back-tracked, saying it was too early to ascribe a cause.

Also, the sudden loss of flight data while the plane was in the air suggests a catastrophic event that instantly disrupted or destroyed the equipment that transmits the data. According to flight data, the plane took off at 6:12 a.m., rose for three minutes to a height of 8,000 ft. and was climbing at 318 mph before abruptly dropping and losing data transmission. If an engine failure caused the pilot to lose control, you would expect some amount of data showing erratic movement by the plane after the engine failure but prior to the entire plane being engulfed in flames, destroying transmitting equipment.

Absolutely nothing about this situation is indicative of an engine failure.

Yeah because it was downed by a bunch of dirkadirkas operating an AA gun. No missile involved imo because Trump and co could of put up the radar evidence of such a thing within 5 seconds of it happening. This was 100% shot down by either a couple of dummies with itchy trigger fingers OR it was planned by some intelligence agency for some political purpose.

This is the same script as the MH17 fiasco. The CIA/mossad controls the MSM.

And yet agian UKRAINE is involved in the handling after the fact.

there is no aircraft in all of aviation history that has logged more flights that the 737, that alone tells you how stupid you are. Boeing was no angel as of late, but that is besides the point.

Problem with this is that there were flights departing that runway every 15-20 minutes for hours before and after Flight PS 752. So apparently these guys ignored all the other planes taking off and targeted one Ukrainian flight full of Iranians and Canadians? Makes a lot of sense

But honestly, speculating about this chit isn't productive. I was merely parroting what is being reported by aviation experts via media outlets

New assessment is apparently that it was hit by a Tor M1 anti-aircraft missile fired by mistake while Tehran's defenses were on alert.

https://www.newsweek.com/iranians-sh...ources-1481313

I thought there were 36 Canadians on board or something. Apparently it was 63, making a connecting flight from Kiev.
Nah, fukk that. I’m not doing that.

Truth is we may never know ..Could be a mistake from anti missiles, could be an actual mechanical failure etc...
100% a mistake by the Iranians, they got jumpy and shot it down. Simple human error, bank on it.

The fact that theyre refusing to give the black box to Ukraine or Boeing tells me everything I need to know. Not to mention the video, rapid descent with massive fireball coming out of it as well as what appear to be shrapnel punctures all over the wreckage. It was definitely shot down by AA fire, intentional or not we dont know.
