Of course, in most states you don't (effectively) need a badge to carry a gun in the first place so that's not even a thing

We signed the whole family up for Global Entry. The main driver was when my wife was doing some work-related travel to Asia/Indonesia and she had some near-misses for flights dealing with the whole customs side of things coming back (nearly missing connecting flights back to Denver from places like San Fran, LA, Houston, etc). But that program has the TSA pre included and then you get a much faster experience getting through customs on the US side.
Costs something like $85 per person and then you have to go through the whole background check and interview process (had to drive out to the airport for that). But it has been well worth it. If you do any global travel at all, it's a benefit. If you don't, then I would highly recommend TSA pre.

pretty much zero either way, sent it to the police station who will proceed to send it to destruction or ask a judge for it to be used by officers.

I go international once a year (may be more frequent in the future), so it would probably be worth it.

What is the difference between Global Entry, TSA Pre✓® and the other Trusted Traveler programs?
TSA Pre✓® provides expedited security screening benefits for flights departing from U.S. Airports. Global Entry provides the TSA Pre✓® benefit plus expedited US customs screening for international air travelers when entering the United States. TSA Pre✓® costs $85 and Global Entry costs $100 for a five year membership. Travelers interested in Global Entry must apply through the Trusted Traveler Program website.
Global Entry, NEXUS, and SENTRI are programs of U.S. Customs and Border Protection. These programs offer travel benefits to pre-screened members. If you join Global Entry, NEXUS, or SENTRI, use your membership number as a “known traveler number” in airline reservations to receive TSA Pre✓®.
To find the best program for you, use the Department of Homeland Security's interactive Trusted Traveler tool.

USPS literally sends me a text and an email at 4 PM saying my signature required package will be delivered today.
But you know they are full of ****. Was here this afternoon waiting, was scheduled for today.
Probably going to try to deliver it three times while I'm gone in following days now.

Had to do that for UPS when i ordered my scope. Had i known it would be such a PITA, would have just kept it at the post office/shipping center 20 min away and picked it up in the first place

But when it comes to guns I rarely see any reason not to get them unless it's a quality issue with the company; they hold their value incredibly well. All of my guns except my cheapo Maverick 88 have gone up in value, especially any off CA roster handguns which I can easily flip for twice what I paid.
