bull trap. Floor will fall out next week, down another 4-6% after Bernie gains momentum after winning Nevada

That's what I'm thinking too, but it for sure caught me off guard. Wouldn't mind a dip next week bc I only got a tiny position today. I don't see how anything (news/etc) could quickly reverse the market at this point. I'm not the best at charts but it does look like there's some support around the 25,000 - 25,500 level

How does an investing noob learn more without drowning in information? Is there a good book / starter guide? In my mind it seems a good time to get into the stock market once you feel that things have hit bottom. REPS

markets were wayyyy over bought before this. If you remember just a few weeks ago people were complaining about how much of a bubble we were in, and how the markets were artificially being propped up. Now its giving people a reason to sell off. I just dont think its finished yet

This man speaks the truth.

So many young people have only seen the recent market. They forget that there were multiple times when the market took 20+ years to recover.

It's been all sunshine and rainbows for most people in their 20s. This chit isn't normal.

Back when I was growing up in the 80's, the stock market was considered high risk-high reward. Most people under 30 think of it as low risk, high reward.

Unfortunately they don't see the circus for what it is has become in recent years.

At this point, you're risking a lot for possible 7% long term returns. I'll stick with lower risk bonds.

Even with all of the dips, you'd be a fool to buy into this market right now.

I agree 100%. Wouldn't be surprised if Monday is a green by the looks of after market trading right now, who knows what will actually happen though. Good luck and good luck to all.

Nobody knows where the bottom is, thats the part that makes it difficult. I'd say you'll probably need to drown in info to get a basic understanding, theres a TON of info on youtube. If you read articles focus on the facts rather than bias. Don't hope for massive gains quickly, and don't chase stocks, you can lose your a.ss VERY quickly.

I would honestly expect a slight down market tomorrow with a huge plunge late into the afternoon. Like a 1500-2000 point plunge. Nobody wants to be holding the bag if this virus blows up over the weekend.

Glad I bought in big Friday afternoon.

I sold everything at the close today.

Lol at buying into the stock market towards the end of the longest bull run in American history. You guys sound like the real estate ass clowns towards the end of 2007.

This is how the wealthy make money. There about to do some serious consolidation of wealth when you guys buy the dip and there's another couple +1000 point burn offs

Something is better than nothing. Look at a 401k if your job has one, there may even be a match. Look into an IRA. If you keep at it, by the time you retire you should at least have a decent amount.

I think it’s shorts covering + celebrating the fed/BoC dumb rate cuts.

I think the economy is on life support and the eventual large correction has just been brought closer in time as people go more in debt to buy overvalued assets (like real estate).

No I’m doing the usual 60/40 balanced diversified thing. It’s boring.

I’ve been in that portfolio for around 7-8 years and rode the debt party upwards.

I’m holding off putting new cash in though.

The reason the market is gyrating so much these days is because everyone knows the big one is coming, we just don’t know exactly when of course. There are warning signs everywhere though. Worldwide interest rates as the biggest warning sign IMO.
