This was a little sobering . . . although it was exactly the attitude I expected.
Took some supplies over to mom tonight. She'll be 80 this year and lost dad a little over a year ago. She's a no-nonsense, pig-headed lady and pulls no punches. I've been keeping her up to date on the COVID-19 stuff and encouraging her to not go out unless it's critical. All she needs to do is call me and let me know what she needs and I'll go get it.
She told me that she did cancel a few get-togethers that she had scheduled and she was curtailing her trips. But she told me in no uncertain terms that if she was going to go out, she was going to go out doing whatever the hell she wanted and when she wanted. Odd conversation to have with your mom, but 110% in line with her personality.

Back to firearm topics; usually use earbuds for ear pro, not a fan of muffs though I like the sound enhancing ones. Looking at getting some earbuds that are ear pro and sound enhancing but they can get pricey. Anyone have any experience with them? Reviews all seem really mixed.
Might just keep to my $4 earbuds, they work well and no need to worry about batteries.

This episode is very serious and the financial impact is unprecedented. After all is said and done, I think this will go down as not being nearly as bad as the worst case scenarios and will look like an overreacition. My guess is that this will result in what will be a "really, really bad flu season". But the overreaction now is really the thing that will probably help make it look that way in retrospect.

Costco was a bust. Weds morning my neighbor was there and they had tons of TP. Weds afternoon local news started reporting two confirmed cases and like 60 possible cases in VT.
Between store opening yesterday morning and when I got there at 4 all TP was sold out.
They were also sold out of all chicken breast and thighs, steaks, roasts, canned chicken, almost out of canned tuna, bags of rice and beans and pretty much any shelf stable foodstuff.

Stock market set for a possibly huge day. But . . . there's been a couple of those followed by even worse sell-offs. The volatility is potato right now.

You can tell the people who made absolutely no preps for anything like this. They are pushing their carts around with a panicked look trying to grab whatever they can from what's left.

But RIP. Curious how they’ll try to support that. Similar here in MI. Curious if the state will give a stipend or some form of SSI to help them

Then they get on social media and local networks and demonstrate a yuge level of anger towards anybody who isn't in the same boatYou can tell the people who made absolutely no preps for anything like this. They are pushing their carts around with a panicked look trying to grab whatever they can from what's left.
But if this all blows over by May they'll go right back to square one and ridicule the idea of having food in the pantry and an extra case of TP in the closet.

Not a hard thing to grasp. Do you want to be able to wipe your ass if you're told to stay in your home for 2-3 weeks or nah?
Then the same ones post pics of empty aisles and mad that they can't buy any. SMFH.
Edit: Those are the same people who will act violently when **** gets real and they have no supplies.

SG Ammo is sold out.
I was able to get a case of Speer 147g and a couple boxes of HST.
223/556 is mostly gone.
And y’all worried about buying in to the market right now need to man up. Play it long. A year from now I’ll be laughing about buying up stock on 20-30% discounts.

Plus we have a bunch of other canned/dry goods and snack items.I have close to 200 lbs of meat in vacuum sealed packs in the deep freeze at -20F, not worried about running out of protein sources currently. Have a decent stock of canned veggies. And a few big bags of basmati rice.

Some of the items I hadn't really thought about, though, I was needing to acquire. The doge food was the big one I spaced and should have been on top of much earlier. Other stuff was laundry detergent (we had some but I was going to be way more comfy buying more), bodywash (same--had some but not as much as I usually like to have), and I would have liked some frozen ground beef but I can go without.
Lysol has this laundry sanitizer out that I just found that is nice. It's bleach-free, so you can put in into loads with colors. Bonus is that it smells really good. I had gotten some at Safeway when I first found it but Sam's had big jugs of it last night so I grabbed a couple.
