Alright it’s the end of the world. Just bought the 556 and Springfield xd 9mm. Pretty new to guns so any tips on getting started with safety/training/handling/cleaning? I have a good buddy that’s a federal agent so we’re going to hit the range. Also need a safe cuz kids, any affordable recommendations?

Also I’m getting a shipping warning for the 30 round mags to CO from brownells. Anyway around this?

For some initial handling, training tips, go on youtube and type in "nssf ar 15"

There are a ton of videos on shooting, reloading, etc that are good for beginners.

Remember, to make sure that the gun is unloaded, drop the mag, and cycle the action repeatedly, then look in the chamber, and put a finger in the chamber to make sure that there isn't a round in there.

Well, you're probably only going to have the ability to carry one handgun and one longgun. A couple grand will get you an extremely nice AR and about a case of match/defensive ammo or 2 cases of bulk ball ammo.



Edit: Everything is selling out because people just watched what happened when people were fighting over hand sanitizer and toilet paper. What do you think happens in the cities when people start fighting over food.

You would be better off getting the OP, a couple thousand rounds, a decent optic, and dropping the remaining on training.

Doubt you will "Need" it in any case, but if chit ever does hit the fan you want something with decent range and good ammo capacity.

Look at the bright side of all this. The strongest argument in the courts for not banning a specific type of weapon is "common use". The more ARs out there the less likely they will be able to be banned. I hope every law abiding citizen in the country buys one with 5standard capacity30 round mags.

Before I moved across country about 8 months ago I sold everything minus my G19.

Sold my NPAP, Remington 870, PPQ, G17, G20, S&W 642, Ruger LCR, Shield 9mm. ****ing all of it.


I'm in the Pacific North West. ANTIFA home central.



Man I could really use my NPAP....

If you're stuck buying a shotgun because of libtard laws, then I'd go with the Mossberg and remove the firing pin retarding spring. A lot of the new OOTB Remingtons have issues with the chamber being rough.

Of course, if you can, go to a pawn shop and buy a used po po trade in 870. There are tons out there at around $200-250, and they're generally high quality. Stick a dime down the barrel and fire to make sure the firing pin is good to go...these generally work well.

I'll take a look at those, forgot about the good ol' woodgrain 870s. Those were workhorses.

I stocked up massive on food and extra supplies starting several weeks ago but got caught sleeping on the ammo issue.

I've been planning to order a case each of IMI M193 and IMI 77 gr SMK MK262 clone and had put it off day after day like a dumbarse, but now neither in stock anywhere. grrr I really didn't expect the ammo to frenzy away so quickly but I've should've known better after 2008-2013 shortages

I've got plenty of other 5.56 ammo but am short on the two above which are my favorites. I'll be using Speer 75 GD and Wolf Gold instead as needed for zombies. I don't expect any serious widespread violence/mayhem where I live unless the economy totally crumbles. I think we're probably looking at a month of peak SHTF with the virus, from next week into the end of April, and then it'll probably start to wind down pretty fast after that from May into June.

You should rephrase question 1 to if he had an unlimited budget for an AR what HE WOULD buy. There is no best rifle because it depends what you are doing.

Even if you are thinking multi-purpose it is a hard question.


Question 2 is even trickier. Once you graduate from poverty class you end up with diminishing returns. Though I will say many of the contractors seemed to end up with Daniel Defense and Bravo Company set ups.

main difference I see is it has a single stage trigger vs 2 stage in the OP. That specific trigger is about $110.
Also, full length picatinny rail making it slightly heavier, and also may affect you hand placement.
Different stock, muzzle device, and grip.

Based on the description and picture:

-worse trigger
-carbine instead of midlength gas
-worse stock/grip (comfort, cheek weld, grip angle, sling attachment)


Edit: the rail is also 11" instead of 13", affecting accuracy from sight radius when using irons but more importantly affecting flashlight shadow and hand placement.

Been looking at a DDM4. Want the DDM4A1 but I’m pretty sure the barrel length is illegal in my state.

My neighbor has a upper end Colt and he keeps telling me I’m crazy for considering anything else.

1. It's tough, but I'll assume that you mean the highest quality "standard" duty AR for non-competition. The answer is Knight's Armament. You're going to pay for it, but it is the best 5.56 "duty" rifle money can buy.

2. Diminishing returns? Geissele, Daniel Defense, BCM, SOLGW, LMT, LaRue, Noveske, LWRC, and American Defense Manufacturing. I'd put Colt on here as well but they were dumb and stopped shipping to their distributors.

All of those companies offer what I call the "modern premium AR15", which is an AR15 with a free float rail, upgraded furniture, a quality barrel, midlength gas, possibly with a piston system, and an upgraded trigger. Many will also have flared magwells, ambi controls, etc but those are less common.

After about $1400-1500 you're basically paying for lightening of the weapon or extreme tuning of the accuracy that is not as important for you but which is very expensive.
