This is exactly why i dont mind Trump getting on TV and saying that chit is going to start being up and running again xxxx date. As someone who manages people, that's what's driving me nuts about what these governors are doing. You *have* to give people an endgame. Not just "SHUT IT ALL DOWN!" with no end in sight.

Yeah and oddly enough, in the year and a half since she's been there, she's become the unemployment guru (and a low-tier supervisor)...so I think her chances are pretty good.

Right, also the company she works for is pretty big and assume they have their own legal/lobbyists. They've already had their ag division ruled essential/mandatory, now trying to argue road construction is as well.

it may not be essential....right now....but you have to think laying them off for 2 months just creates unnecessary churn and burden on the system. And costs. And when you start back up now you'll be lacking people again.

I struggle to see why anyone would close right now since we're all in the same sitch, and it's quite the unique one.

Just saw the CARES Act. Should be beneficial for many folks.
I tried to get the same thing from my mortgage company after Hurricane Michael hit. We were in a federally declared FEMA disaster zone. They said the same thing. Pause for 3 months but pay it all back on the 4th month. Like what's the point? How does that help anyone?

Apparently there’s an 8 month forbearance for any federal backed mortgage

I’m sure they will extend it the longer this goes on
They won’t extend it for the people, they extend it for the banks so we don’t see another round of mass mortgage defaults like we did in 2008

Ill have to call. I've got 50k+ equity in the property. And spending the $ getting the house in order vs the mortgage would be tits. And it's not like im doing stuff outside of basic maintenance and upkeep i should've been doing. Painted about 50% of the house at this point, replacing outlets, getting super cheap but new looking beauty plates on everything, etc. The $1300/mo could be used for....say...new appliances and some minor kitchen upgrades. Then....sell...

Just checking in. Everybody good?

I'm not sure what's going on in Cali. I expected NY like numbers in the Bay Area and LA, but so far, it's been small comparatively. Maybe we are just way behind on testing.

Checking in. I'm healthy, I think. My mom moved in with us a little after my grandma died last fall. She is 69 and so I'm obviously a little nervous about her getting anything. Husband works in a trauma one hospital, yet isn't reallythatworried about it. We actually got in a fight the other night about him not washing his hands after he got back from the grocery store. Never thought I'd have to admit that...lol...anyway, I ended up winning. So, at least he can admit when he's wrong. *shrugs*

Hope you all are safe and well.

I am getting kind of bored, tho. lol

Wife still apparently has work, coincidentally their biggest project was allowed to reopen.

House is a disaster with the kids home 24/7, been working on writing with my son and he seems to be picking it up well enough.

Had one of our biggest projects shelved, another one cancelled for 2019, oil in the toilet. Weird times for business.

Things home are good, kids are on March break so no homeschool fights and lots of Disney plus.

Florida finally issues a stay at home order. Doesn't affect me at all. I'm mission essential. Wooo! The important thing is that the governor deemed fishing and hunting as essential activities. Good old Florida.

Everything good here. My daughter is more of an introvert and she couldn't wait to get away from her HS (she's a senior) . . . so the lockdown and remote learning is fine with her. She's a little bored here and there, but mostly doing fine. Son is a FR in nearby university and living at home. He's doing his online classes and working a few shifts a week at Panera (which he really likes). Wife is working from home a bit but her job is "essential" at the catholic school so she does some work there.

I've been working from home full time for several years, so this is all pretty much business as usual for me. Except there are more people around now vs less. We tend to have pretty good preps on hand anyway, but I've topped off here and there so we're good for the long haul if needed. Mom is going to be 80 this fall and she lives pretty close. I check on her constantly and she's doing great. So it's a weird situation but everyone is copying well.

Getting into the spring weather in CO, so it's spectacular more than crummy this time of year. Getting out for some nice walks on the trails and hanging out in the yard to get ample fresh air.

That's good. We go through waves here. I'm essential, so still going into work everyday. Have actually added staff to increase sanitation frequency.

Wife is working from home now, though there's not much work to do as her job is to support Spec. Ed teachers who are really not working and remote learning doesn't translate well for that population.
Oldest is a 16 year old female. So, some good days and some days where the world is ending. Her driver's test was canceled by the DMV and no appointments are being allowed to be scheduled right now, so she's pissed about that. Then, she has some friends that their parents aren't really following the "shelter in place" orders, so when we say, no to stuff she freaks out.

Youngest is also an introvert and loves to read. She can sit and read books for days on end. So, she's fine with the remote learning thing.
You don't have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.
