Good call, I'm getting my terminology mixed up. This is showing the doubling rate, R0 is how many people are infected by a carrier

Stay at home stuff was only ever intended to be temporary, to blunt the strongest spikes in infections and deaths.

Additionally, a lot of totally non-essential high-risk, high density events should just be suspended indefinitely/pending a major change in circumstances (sportsball crowds, full capacity movie theaters and restaurants, large in person from-around-the-country or world conferences that don't have to be done in person, etc).

But, we don't need this super strict house-arrest level of quarantine for everybody across the country that has basically already been going for 5 weeks and people talking about doing another month or months.

We need to, May 1 at the latest, in most of the country, slowly and carefully start to re-open some things. Michigan needs to start first they went full fuking retard with their restrictions.

This. I know I gave you **** earlier on in this thread and the now CT thread. The virus is no joke and we need to take it seriously but life needs to go on at some point. Start with small things like letting restaurants open back up at 50% or less capacity for a bit and see if new cases start to jump up again. Can't be letting fear make all the decisions. Though I'm pretty sure rolling lockdowns are going to be a fact of life for awhile.

I am for opening up some of these ailing small businesses but I hope they take into consideration that these larger business and corporations with hundreds of employees are going to be hot spots. I work in an open-office environment and when we return to work, it's only a matter of time until a few of us start falling.

PA just put something into effect requiring anyone who enters a store/public area to wear a mask starting this Sunday. So I imagine we will be following suit with a longer pause.

We're heading into a mandatory mask order tomorrow in NY, and it looks like PA and parts of FL are heading the same way. For those of you who just want a reasonably stylish, breathable, and technically compliant face-covering, or just want to cover whatever other Bane/Vader gear you're wearing, a merino wool buff won't get stanky and damp like polyester:

https://buffusa.com/shop-buff/multif...ollection.html
https://www.rei.com/product/129071/b...f-multi-colors

REI also has the Buff-brand ones in black and heather grey.

They're also just kind of handy things to own as a sun/insect covering. I get merino wool for travel and socks wherever possible, it's great material.
Nah, fukk that. I’m not doing that.

Every state will follow suit.

I am telling you they are playing the country like a fiddle.

They say Easter, May 1, May 15th to give people HOPE.

Then as it draws closer they extend it 30 days. They have to keep doing this to prevent civil unrest.
If they just came out and flat out said we are extending the ban until 2021 people would riot in the streets.

So the plan is a glimmer of hope, then move it back little by little.

Here in the red state of Texas the gov wanted the economy open right away, then may, now he says tomorrow he will "Lay out a Plan" to open certain businesses(not all of them mind you) little at a time to curb the spread.
anyone have a video or technique for sterilizing an N95 mask? I keep re-using the same one to go to grocery store etc, but i dunno if it's gonna start doing more harm than good if i dont sterilize it somehow... thoughts? I have disinfectant spray and wipes, and i think another poster mentioned something about putting it in the oven? I have this one :

[img]https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/71iEEssaJzL._AC_SX466_.jpg[img]
I used a box and an ozone generator I already had around to create a disinfecting rig. I try not to go out as much as possible, but when I do I wear my N95 and I sterilize it in the box afterwards.

I find it easier to put my N95 on my cars dashboard with the sun hitting directly onto it. Pretty sure that will kill any virus/bacteria on. The inside car temp can go up to 110* pretty quick currently and the suns UV help as well.

To the phd guy above. Do you read all the new studies on the virus that come out every day, or just a few here and there? While I appreciate your opinion and input, and I will weigh your opinion heavier than the average miscer. However, the biggest experts in the world don´t even know what is going on, even tho they work overtime to figure this new virus out. Therefore, I will assume that you don´t really know whats going on either. More than the average person, but vary far away from a big picture understanding. The world would maybe be a better place if more people would admit they have no idea. I have no clue myself, but at least I´m spending several hours every day reading about the virus, compared to miscers who make their opinion based on the media and the herd, without looking into the data themselves.
Someone's got a 4chan on his tabs heh.

Lol @ miscer vs PhD. People don't give actual experts enough credit, reminds me of DIYers who think they can solve everything by watching a YouTube video. Yeah, your HVAC system may be low on "freon," likely there are a number of other problems though, and filling the system is only a bandaid. Just an example. Context matters, being able to interpret a situation with ALL of the background knowledge matters. It's not a matter of connecting the dots- nonexperts don't have the background knowledge on which dots matter and why. I'm very skeptical of anyone who inflates their own abilities over people who actually make this their life work.

Re: 4chan- I know the place is quite ridiculous, but these guys have been following and collecting every pertinent piece of info for some time and were one of the places that awared me to the scale of this, along with Reddit. To anyone clamoring for opening up, and not thinking this is all that bad-check out just some of the articles. If nothing else, they reinforce the fact that this chit is largely unknown in how serious it is. Even when we reopen and relax restrictions, as long as the virus is out there I'm staying careful and avoiding risky gatherings and mostly staying home. Maybe this is obvious for some here, but with potatoes bragging about not wearing masks I wonder...
