Have you looked at Sweden? They are actually revising their death estimates downward. Right now they have lost 29 people per 100,000 and we've lost 22. They are actually going to have herd immunity in a couple months and their final death rate as a percentage of the pop will almost certainly fall below ours. And they did essentially nothing.

What worked and why it worked for Sweden doesn't mean it'll work in the US - the average person is probably healthier than a person here, it was freezing there when all this went down, and I've heard they tend to be secluded people as a whole so they're not going out as much.

With that being said, we need to open up our country and have people take responsibility into their own hands w/ contact, cleaning, general health, pre-existing conditions, etc.

These protesters seem to think that once everything opens up prematurely business will be back to normal. Things will be different for a very long time. My company and many other companies in my sector are WFH until Oct, regardless of the state of opening.

Protesters should've practiced what they preached not too long ago and pulled themselves up by their bootstraps and found jobs more pertinent to the modern world

I'm in IT. I specialize in Microsoft and VMware. The only companies that were hiring were for entry-level or architect level. I went back and got certified in Cisco, Citrix, EMC, programming and anything else I could think of, so that I could get an architect level job. I basically crammed 10 years of learning into 6 months. It was my new full-time job. No only that, I spent the last 10 years continuing my education, so that would never happen again.

Now there's no way I'm losing my job because I am the best of the best. the guy losing his job will be the "me" 10 years ago.

Anyone sitting on their asses right now are pure degen.

My opinion on the whole thing is that the lockdowns are possibly in danger of doing more harm than good. You have to balance the negatives of the virus itself with the negatives of the lockdown, people who just say we don’t need a lockdown because my county only has x number of cases out of y number of people are pretty dumb because the whole point is the virus was growing very quickly without these measures. But in the next few months I think every business that can operate with social distancing should open up, now this is gonna mean things are quite a way off normal for some time but it’s better than the situ we are in now, the key is we can’t have too many people getting sick at one time or else health services can be overwhelmed and not only will people die of covid but they won’t be able to get urgent care in other life saving circumstances. We need to get society up and running as much as possible without overwhelming the healthcare system, The best way to do this is in phases, open up non essential shops first, look at the data after 3-4 weeks, if the infection rate is still manageable then open up bars and restuarants and schools partially with social distancing etc, then look at the data again. Keep doing this so long as the previous phase has been successful, don’t just open everything up all at once and drop all the social distancing rules. While all this is going on testing capacity needs to be ramped up tremendously, if you wanna get on top of this a country like the USA needs to be doing millions of tests every single day, everyone with symptoms needs access to a test and everyone who’s come into close contact with that person as well, that way they can know if they need to isolate and act accordingly

How about my son that has an auto-immune disease and asthma, yet both myself and my ex-wife are essential workers and constantly have to put our son at risk. I don't need some ******* redneck that doesn't care infecting me.

The point is, I would have changed fields completely if that was the only option, instead of sitting on my ass doing nothin, praying that I will magically have a job before my money ran out. I thought about changing careers because I had no idea if the IT industry was ever going to come back to what it was. Everything was becoming so automated and cloud based, that middlemen were no longer a necessity. I decided to become the man that created the automation.

I thought about going into law enforcement, but being there for my family was more important.

It does have some effect because if the disease becomes more prevalent in the population as a whole then when they HAVE to leave their homes for whatever reason, then they’re more at risk when doing so as opposed to the scenario if everyone had practiced social distancing

I understand your point and its valid, but regardless if its prevalent or not they should not be going out and possibly getting infected UNTIL a vaccine is out and hopefully it allows immunity to Covid 19

So again, me going out and having a drink causes no effect on that chemo patient who still has to wait till a vaccine is out to feel safe out in the world

Brah didn't you hear, pondus_levo, at a time when all schools were closed, decided to build his own school, earn a degree from it, and become an essential worker making $7,000,000. He did all this while raising 8 kids, owning three homes, and taking care of three ill parents by curing diseases they had which had not even been discovered yet. So save any excuses or hardships that might come your way during this pandemic.

On a side note I’ve been contacting my suppliers with usfoods, seafood.com, Sysco, and local meat suppliers and fish suppliers...

People have no idea how ****ed food supply is about to become if this continues. Potato farmers in my state sitting on 1billion dollars worth of potatoes they can’t sell with a new harvest coming in. (90% would go to frozen fries for restaurants around country) they probably won’t even harvest. People are killing off baby animals instead of raising etc.. I’m just glad I have a camper, a family that hunts, and live close to the wilderness.
