I see the books on their wages and its not uncommon for them to be making 60 or 70k.

Cost of living out here is much higher, not where I am, but CA in general. CHP makes more than us, PD depends, some make more and some far less.

If they didn't pay what they do though, it wouldn't be a good job, saw my first murder, guy disemboweled on the yard, when I had 5-6 months in. So that stuff more than makes up for the gaps we have with down time and quiet days.

Just seen you're a CO at the CDCR. I seen this video of inmates in CA prisons filming themselves doing drugs out in the open. Don't they have cameras in the common areas? What's going on in this video? Do the CO's just look the other way and let inmates do drugs and have contraband cell phones?

Confidentiality means I can't directly answer the camera question, but I will say this, most Wal-Marts have far more cameras than we do...

On the 'look the other way', some do, but it's more that, at least in my facility, we have 3 officers in a building and ~150 inmates. It's impossible to see everything, 2 floor cops, then the control booth officer; we can only look at so many things. We also have to do cell searches daily, which distracts us, do bed moves, security checks, misc. paperwork and more.

We have caught plenty using on the day rooms, on the yards, in cells, ect. but we know that most get away with it, there are a lot of blind spots. Cell phones we get decently often, and we always take them; last thing we need is them sending out video and images of daily operations, it's a big security risk. But phones are small, easily hidden, and we just don't have the time in a day to search every cell and every location they can hide one.

Funnily enough, our dogs can find phones more often than drugs.

I just think if law enforcement wants a no knock warrant, they should go through someone other than a local judge. Should be a state wide thing and the set of circumstances to warrant one should be extreme and signed off by someone other than random judge #5 who is neighbors with random detective on the SWAT team #8.

The issue with no knocks is there are zero repercussions. If you removed all po po protections from cops who execute no knocks on *the wrong ****ing house*, which happens constantly, then charge everyone involved including the judge for 1st degree murder, you'll see fewer of them.

As it is, if I hear a bang and "Police!" I'm shooting first and asking questions later. I haven't done anything wrong to warrant that, and therefore have to assume it's home invaders. They can have fun stacking up in my house...it's a real treat.

The lack of primers is really starting to annoy me. I don't ever remember primers being in short supply.


Unrelated but I'm finding blowback AR9s will cycle well down to as low as 4.5g of pistol powder. Makes recoil much better

Been wanting to add a rifle to my WW2 collection recently. Anyone know of some decent sites for such rifles? For reference, I want to have the standard issued rifle from each of the major players in WW2. I own an M1 and a Mosin. Would like to get an Enfield next, then a Kar98, Arisaka, and Carcano.

No thanks on CS, sht hurts; you can still find CS and various other 40mm launcher rounds though they only ship to LEO. Thought about buying a 40mm for fun, but it was ~$1200 for a single shot and over $3000 for the multi. Haven't looked but I think I can get CS grenades too.

Weird. I just started the same collection. My grandfather had quite a few of them, so inheriting them from him helped me out quite a bit. So far I have:

M1 Carbine
M1 Garand
Mosin
Enfield (actually will end up with like 3 of them)
Arisaka
....and.... I don't remember there are two others I have.

(He also had a couple others that I couldn't immediately identify)
Everything depends upon execution; having just a vision is no solution.

Performance and performance alone dictates the predator in any food chain.

No. I was surprised that he didn't have a Mauser. At least that I saw. But now that you say it, I do believe there was a Springfield bolt action. I would have to check and see if it was one that I already have, or if it's still at his house. He had a fair amount of really cool old stuff. He never really got into modern guns a whole lot though. He did have a Dirty Harry looking S&W Model 29 though.
