I think it's mostly manufactured based on what the media tells people to think. Which actually could impact how society treats each other in the future, racially speaking. A non-issue gets turned into an issue, because we're told that such and such racial demographic hates such and such other racial demographic. Then we actually do start to become suspicious of each other. So while that isn't necessarily an issue now, it could be in the near future. Then people like Shola MRichards would use that new context to validate what they've been saying the whole time.

It works the other way around too bro.

To give some context about myself. I am Mexican - But I look extremely white (Light Skin, Light Hair, also get told I talk like a white person). I can't run around my neighborhood either because I'm worried some dude is gonna think I'm a cop and running around the wrong part of town or something. It's just not a good combination.

A lot of people are racist bro - But I found it tends to be more due to low educational attainment than race.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: All the rioting and looting just quietly reaffirmed violent stereotypes in the minds of millions of people not just here but in far more racist regions like eastern europe and asia.

I live in a 95% white, very republican neighborhood in the south. The kind of neighborhood that the media would have you believe is racist as hell.

There are a couple of black families here. They walk the streets without fear. Everyone is friendly with them, and they stop and talk with quite a few neighbors.

I've never heard any racist remarks from neighbors about them, and haven't even heard their race ever mentioned.

Racism isn't nearly as rampant as the media would have you believe.

Sure, there are dumb fukers out there that are racist, but they make up a very small percentage of the population.

People need to quit this "divide" stuff. Srs. It isn't helping and really isn't true.

These two statements are exclusive:
1. Black people are "targeted and treated worse by police" on average.
2. The media narrative exacerbates and perpetuates the problem of racism, by instilling victimhood and fear into the minds of narrated victim groups.

I'm suggesting that the man who posted this may be irrationally fearful in his situation due to (2), rather than (1).

I don't know, because I am not black so I cannot speak on this. I think everyone should just keep it that way, we don't know. Can't broscience on something that I have no experience in. And you know what? It takes a lot of balls to admit that.

What I do know is that much of the divide in this nation is the result of two groups of people, who are both in some sense correct, clashing with one another. When you got two groups pulling in opposite sides and refuse to compromise, you get what you seeing now. Mix that in with politicians from both parties who seek to gain votes by pandering to their respective sides and the fuse is lit.

America needs centrist leadership. Leaders that will see America as one for all and all for one. Far-right and far-left administrations do not work here because it alienates way too many.

And that goes for both sides, white people do indeed deal with prejudice in certain neighborhoods, and racism isn't limited to white people. Sad fukin state of affairs overall.

It makes sense to me since I've always felt the tension in this country meanwhile everyone thinks racism is fully over. Both sides have to compromise though.

There are issues that we need to solve ourselves, but there are issues that are a domino effect of the drug war, and others .. that this country put the minority community under. People like to make it seem like "if you work hard this is will go your way" and that's not always true. It takes luck sometimes in order to make it out of the bad situation that you were born into. Most miscers never had to grow up in a single family household, in a community where the only male role model in your life is a drug dealer.
