Well, I’m 28, living in a metro area with more than 1 million people. I have not had to use social media to contact a business ever. Or anyone really.

I look up the business and call them. If their website is useless... I view that as indication of how professional their business would be, and move on to the next.

Most definitely not required.

People rarely think about why they do anything. They sign up for social media because "everybody is" then go on to bitch how it's cancer, get outed on stuff they posted 10 years ago, get doxxed, have problems talking with people IRL, etc. Like anything it's a tool. If anyone ever convinces me there's a valid need for a specific one, I have no problem using it. But all I see are people having the same old issues they had before, plus more. Not to mention the pressure for kids to look "interesting" to the point they fall off bridges trying to take selfies. Retarded.

Sure, having chicks from every state drooling over my IG pics might be fun, but won't get me anything I can't get walking around the block. And just lol @ ********. When everyone's grandma is on ********, it jumped the shark long ago.

I've got an FB. For me, it's mostly a football forum (I'm on some closed groups).

My last status post was 2 years ago. My feed is just single parents yammering away about how awesome their kids are (srs, I'm still only 25) and some people I know from school 40K millionaire'ing it (they're junior-level engineers, I know what they're making down to +/- $5K, I have a rough idea of how much their new cars and vacations cost, and I'm aware that those two numbers don't square).

I use it for occasionally stalking people I know, but I guess I'm too redpilled to actually bejealousof them. I don't remove my social media because to be frank, it doesn't affect my life one way or the other.

Also, Vox mentioned a good point. I have my public profile locked down hard to prevent doxxing, cause I'm very active on anonymous boards like this and you never know when someone will decide to be a ****.

I was talking to a friend in my research lab last month, I pulled up a FB tab to show him a mutual friend of ours, and FB's like "People you may know: This Guy You're Talking To!" I guarantee they've got our mics bugged and chit.

My brother does Big Data research and he's mentioned that FB has huge data sets that are very poorly secured. Not nearly as big as Google's, but they are much more careless about who can get to it.
