I was still working during all this too. But a lot of my co-workers that got laid off told me they got more money from unemployment than they did from working.

Depends on what you do, your employer might not be able to employ every single employee from before. If your boss isn't a scumbag he'll probably remember those who came back first and keep them.

Larry Kudlow Vows End To $600 Unemployment Aid As 'Disincentive' To Work
Kudlow’s dismissive attitude about the payments amid massive unemployment amid the COVID-19 pandemic was a dramatic contrast to his defense of the Payment Protection Plan for businesses, which can use the forgivable public loans to pay exorbitant executive salaries.

I was a car salesman and had a bad month. Also went against the house mouse and bs system so that didn't help. Got laid off with 5 other salesman and 50 employees.
A good month for me was $5,000-6000, for reference I made $14,500 over a 10 week span. Was employed for nearly a year there.
Receiving almost $1000 a week in unemployment. Moved in my home last Thanksgiving, paid off my G37 and bought a new 5.0 in January. I pay the mortgage, new car, and still save $2,000 every month.
Bought a new dining set, chair and sectional for 3 grand and still save $2,000 a month. Bought a y pipe back exhaust for my g37 and still save $2,000 a month. Buying 3 or 4 liquor bottles every month and still saving $2,000 a month. Built a fence for my backyard and still saving $2,000 a month. Putting drag springs and an mbrp exhaust and bolt ons soon for the mustang and still saving $2,000 a month lol.
I'll have received $20,000 cash from mid april until the end of July. Some idiot co workers went back because of no social life. I'm riding this unemployment bus until the wheels fall off. I'm also tipping big when I get menudo and ****.

I have no problems with the extra $600 would much rather see people who worked get a nice paid vacation than see the multi billion dollar corporations get "bailed" out. Also the people like the guy above who are getting an extra $600 are actually putting money back into the economy unlike the bull**** trickle-down economy they try to push which btw is total scam.
I think they will have to extend the additional $600 there's no way that 45million jobs will come back at end of JULY and most people cant pay their bills with poverty $200-300 a week unemployment benefits.

If they don't extend the additional 600 **** is going to get crazy since millions of Americans are laid off, also its Taxable income it snot a free handout like welfare.
Once that 600 bonus goes away some people are only getting a minimum of 104 dollars a week like in NY or 167 dollars a week in California, how are these people going to survive off that amount?

I'd have no problem with the gov. extending the pandemic payment, as long as it's not paying people more than they made with full time work. The problem is nobody WANTS to go back to work because they make more unemployed with the bonus. If an employer offers you work and you refuse, the unemployment is supposed to stop. I think this hasnt really been enforced because its such a cluster with everything going on. Even so, if the pandemic payment pays you the same as your old fulltime wage, then people probably still wont go back to work. I'm waiting for all the dust to settle and the states to collect all their unemployement overpayments back.

I'm not collecting any unemployment or Corona bucks but I have more time because of Corona.
I'm using the extra time to get some certifications under my belt.
