I'm going to try this out. I actually have a few packs that are open, but I left the cards inside for fun. I'll weigh a pack with and without a holo.

I'm not sure those cards are actually worth anything anymore. I distinctly remember going to the mall as a kid, probably 1999-2000, and there was this little booth in the middle with a dude selling and buying cards. That was his business. I brought my binder and he offered me 10$ for Alakazam. I refused. He was selling a Charizard for 120$. I'll never forget that.

I'll also never forget the time I was sitting on my front steps with friends and we were all opening packs of Pokemon cards we had just purchased. Bikes out on the lawn all sprawled out. I flipped through one pack and there was Charizard. We basically all reacted this way, almost exactly:

That's a bit after my time, but I believe I remember Yugioh becoming a thing when my brother was at the end of elementary school. I was in high school at the time. I remember seeing the anime on TV, though. Back in my day, some kids were playing Magic.

We were at Barnes and nobles and this dude had a jewel scale and was weighing every pack of Pokémon cards they had
My step dad asked what he was doing and he explained that the packs with a holographic card weighed more and gave me a pack that he said would have a holographic card in it.
Turned out he was absolutely correct so from then on they got me a weight watchers scale and I started weighing the decks before picking out which ones I’d buy.

So I just tested this out and help my fuk it actually works. I took some photos as evidence. I wish I were aware back then. This would have been an absolute game changer.

Here is a picture of my old Pokemon card binder. I have the entire set completed.



Luckily, I had kept some of my packs (opened) with cards in them.
