We are very similar, and if we have one thing, that is self-awareness, which comes a long way into being happy and successfull with relationships. I feel like you will meet a special girl soon.
Indeed, we have very similar experiences - enjoyed our PM's back in the day. I'm still NC with her btw.

I think that relationship helped me to become more self aware, introspect, figure out my own flaws to work on, what type of person I want, and recognize that there's no such thing as a free lunch - when you get the highs, you get the lows!

I've had a couple of gfs and dated a few other girls since then.

No man has the right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training. It is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.

You don't really want to wait that late for kids.

If you really want kids and don't find "the" woman sounds like you could afford to hire a live in nanny and be a single dad.

best living situation is when you own your own home and live in the house you chose you wanted to live in and get to park in your driveway, walk inside and do whatever the fuk you want, girlfriend or no girlfriend.

After owning I cringe at the years i spent renting places. It's just not the same. Especially apartment living.

Waking up in your own bed, in your own house, on your own property, with no one who lives there to effect anything you do is the GOAT. And if you are an alpha you pick a women to date/marry who does a lot of the housework so you even get things easier than if you lived alone.

I like fixing things and doing the yard work myself so thats the compromise.

I dont want to worry about being up to late, making too much noise, sharing the fridge, sharing parking spots, someone else's mess, etc... And I dont like living under someone else's roof who i pay rent to.

I've never lived with roommates, only boyfriends and a husband. I would never want to live with a roommate. That sounds like the worst thing ever IMO.

My best living situation:

Living alone. lol.

Why? Nobody moves your chit and leaves things out of their place. You can easily stick to your diet instead of being tempted to eat junk other people have laying around. I would miss the security of having someone else around though.

Grand kids! if you wait too long to have kids you might be too old with health issues to enjoy the grand kids.

IMO best living situation is by yourself in your own house.

Maybe. I think that depends on the person.

Pretty much with OP. Originally after the Navy I had roommates largely out of necessity, but also I don't mind having them (assuming they don't suck, and I've had good luck). This was in San Diego btw.

I moved to a much lower COL area and have solid job/income now, but I'm a stingy/frugal bastard (like pathologically so) - and again I'm used to having roomates, and am also a minimalist. Here I have one roommate who works a lot, and when we're home both of us spend over 90% of the time in our rooms. My share of the rent is cheap and he pays all the utilities, pretty sweet deal. Being alone would be nice, but imo the pros of this situation outweigh cons.

There is a lot of relocation potential with my career field. I would kind of eventually like to get my own little house/condo/whatever, but I probably won't bother until I'm in a position where I'm fairly confident that I'm going to settle down in whatever area I'm currently in. I already have plenty of money to make massive down payment, and that will just continue to increase in the meantime as I continue to live well below my means.

Good stuff man, but I would recommend setting aside a fixed amount cash every month to spend recreationally. I think that way you can pursue your financial goals, but also enjoy yourself without feeling any guilt.

You are absolutely right that it depends on the roommate and their situation. Basically, I'd rather live alone if my roommate wasn't cool/chill/a friend. So it can be a bit of a gamble.

This is what I'm getting at by having a great roommate. You have your own space and privacy, but at the same time don't get as lonely. It's a nice balance that I like. Once they get in a serious relationship though, that declines since their relationship will dominate.

Of course with a partner, you lose some space, privacy and freedom but gain closer companionship.

Still think youโ€™d have to leave Cali and maybe look in Southern states or at least get tinder and set it to Southern states to talk to some girls there. I donโ€™t think you ever did.
Current gf will be 28 when I'm 40, so if we stay together that age gap is fine.

I plan to leave CA, have started looking around. I'm targeting mid-2021 to make a move.

Best living situation was when I lived alone in an apartment, also was in the best shape of my life training at home alone then.

Worst was when I rented a room in a boarding house with strangers.

What age were you? I lived alone in a nice 1-bed apartment when I was 26. It was great, but nowadays (mid 30s) I think I'd get lonely since my personality changed.

Agreed OP. Espcially if you have a nice pad in the city. Mid 20s. Go out together etc. Goat lifestyle. I dont mind living alone tho thats also a good time (srs) i like privacy.
