I haven't considered suicide in years, and i decided years ago that if i ever considered it again, i'd go here, camp at the top for 1 week, and if i still feel the same, jump off.

Either way i want to go there one day

Thanks for showing actual empathy rather than beating the proverbial dead horse.

The inability for many idiots these days to reach out, engage and help people in need is why we have social issues.

I would make a thread trying to educate the young (who are mostly manlets), but I am “access denied on this server” now. How will they learn without me?

I have been watching you. You will make it. You have a lot of sense built into you. It is your gift and it will guide you through life well. Let this be something you can continue to hold onto to keep you secure on your uphill climb in life.

it's almost like people who commit suicide are mentally ill and don't give a damn about rationalizing it

telling them that they're being selfish is surely a great way to get them to seek help

Spare a thought for Hillary and Bill Clinton bro.

They've had 50+ of their closest friends and acquaintances commit suicide.

jk'ing aside.

Had one of the mates from the school of infantry back in the day commit suicide 4 days before Christmas a few years ago after he was medically discharged from the Army. Another 'statistic' for VA that nobody cares about.

If it's selfish to live and die on my own terms, how much more selfish is it for you to expect me to live and die on your terms? Should I live in constant pain so you don't suffer a little sadness on the occasion you think of me?

That attitude is definitely the only one to take up with anyone who is considering self harm. To be entirely honest I don't disagree that sometimes life is not worth living for in limited cases, but at the same time what we have to do is to help the individual fight against it.

People in that state of mind are not the best decision makers, and reinforcing those negative thoughts by supporting that kind of idea is not acceptable. If they are at a point where that decision has to be made, they will make it on their own. But all external forces should focus on helping overcome those urges not amplify them. Obviously this statement is mostly related to mental health, if someone is at end of life moments and in excruciating pain... there are some scenarios where other factors come into play.

What a dumb fukkin comment. YOU are the selfish one, because you only care about how YOU will cope without that person.
But you dont care what this person is going through, you want them to stay alive just because its the “right” thing to say.
People that off themselves usually tried everything in their power to change their situation and simply realize that there is no light at the end of the tunnel.
They just want their pain to stop and see suicide as the only way to end this nightmare called life..and thats completely understandable

agreed op, it's a common message, but it needs to be said. I've been low, and I mean real fukin low, and it felt like for a while the only way to rid my mind of this horrible thought process I was going through, was literally to end it all. You have to be strong enough to fight another day, and another one after that, so on and so forth.

People get caught up on this idea that life is supposed to make you happy. That isn't the point of all of this, it never was

This.

I've never understood this sort of criticism. If the person was mentally well, they wouldn't think these thoughts. You might as well say they should have stopped being depressed.

I disagree. Robin Williams offed himself because he was in the early stages of a form of Dementia called lewy body disease. You basically become a shell of your former self. Lashing out, mood swings, loss of memory, personality, hallucinations, delusions, etc

Suicide is a weird one, on one hand its bad and all and can defintely affect those close to them but on another hand some people just hate life and don't get nearly as much fulfillment out of it like others do.

Huh this is the first I ever heard of that, the news never really talked about that part. It makes a lot more sense and cannot just be blamed on depression alone, even if he had a history of depression. If I had a serious disease like ALS, MS or this lewy body disease and it was progressing and I realized I would eventually be bed ridden, paralyzed or forget who I am, I would off myself too, srs.

SIMPLY PUT -

- You're going to die anyway one day
- It may get better, it may not..
- So why not just wait and see what happens?
- Dedicate yourself to the self help/therapy route.

Even if you take some small satisfaction from life, it would have been better to live then never live at all.

Stop comparing yourself to others, start valuing the chit that matters. Your fulfilment, your peace.

All that other chit doesn't matter.

A beautiful place. I understand your thought process, I think.

Go to a beautiful place with no one around. Clear your mind completely. With a clear mind if you have peace. It's all in the mind.

Going into nature and clearing my mind has stopped me from committing suicide at least 10 times, srs.

Everyone dies, life goes by in a blink of an eye.
If someone wants to avoid old age and choose when they die, I am not going to judge or think badly of them.
It's different if they have young children though, kids have to come first.
