The problems with education and security in the region are exactly what the CCP is trying to solve. The vast majority of uyghurs in the region cannot speak Mandarin (or even any chinese dialect). How do you expect to receive a decent education when you can't speak the language of the country you live in? Through these education camps, the Chinese government prioritizes the acquisition of Chinese language skills and a skilled trade that the uyghur citizens can then use to secure stable employment with.

The issue with security and violence in the region is a result of China's failure to assimilate the uyghurs in the past. This is what the CCP is currently trying to remedy. You have to understand the history of Central Asia; Take a look at other nations in the region, like Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. Before they were absorbed into the soviet union, the people were illiterate, uneducated, and prone to extremism. Through the Soviet Union's reeducation efforts (which is what China currently bases their model off of), they completely transformed the region. All of the former soviet countries in central asia today are secular, highly educated, safe nations.

Trying to distort China's efforts to assimilate ethnic minorities into "concentration camps" and claiming they're "worse than guantanamo" is laughable.

Now we're getting somewhere, I agree with everything you said above. Like I said, I understand the Chinese government's issue with possible Islamist extremism; I'm all too familiar with that in the Middle East and Chechnya, and know its poisonous effect. My only issue is withhowthe Chinese government are going about achieving their goal, I believe there are better ways to do this.

And how do you think the Chinese government should go about handling this? What would you like to see done differently? There's been no evidence of any sort of mass mistreatment of uyghurs in these camps. Keep in mind that the quality of life in most rural Chinese villages isn't all that glamorous. Many of the people in these education camps are living much better than their peers.

Anyone who has ever been to an Asian prison and an American one will tell you they'd rather commit suicide then go back. Chinese prisons are essentially concentration camps. The CCP loves silencing dissidents, like their good doctor who spoke out about the Chinese Flu, or the many people who try to speak freely about something they don't like but get thrown in prison.

You realize that's the reason why the majority of them don't speak Chinese right? Because they were allowed to run their own Uighur language schools that taught absolutely no Mandarin, well into early 2000s, which ultimately led to regionalism and separatism.
