I would say that the term TERF is a product of the very far left attempting to require the moderate left to adhere to all ideals no matter how extreme. It's essentially the "How can you call yourself an X if you are not also Y?" type reaction.

TERF is definitely mainly directed at women.

The men who seem to subscribe to the far left doctrine are often compliant to a fault, and so there isn't really a term for them.

But there is absolutely a discord in the LGB community because there are gay men and women who do not think Trans is part of the group. I don't know the term for that, I'm sure there is though.

One thing is certain for for me that I don't want to be the last one to know whatever decisions my daughter makes for her future. I'd like we'll try to make it work together.

There'll be a lot for her to decide during a long life ahead and I want to be a part of her life at every one of them.

My cousin's daughter was a very attractive teen, but had an utterly useless mom and no father figure and found a group of damaged people who pushed the idea on her that she would be happier if she mutilated herself. Her mom was the "I'm my daughters best friend first, and mother second" type and dad left home when she was a toddler, so no one ever stopped her. She had a nice doctor who told mom that her daughter urgently needed to be mutilated and had her breasts hacked off at 19

Now she is a chubby manlet with a baby face and neck beard who is marrying an elderly predator. If she ever passed as a man she would be treated the exact same way as other overweight 5'6" manlet would be treated, which probably isn't the fantasy of being a powerful alpha male the subvertors planted in her vulnerable head

If you take a boy (because it is almost always the boys getting groomed) that has no chance of ever getting laid due to a combination of status, looks and personality and grind into his head that everything would be better if they just accepted that they are actually a girl, its easier to see the temptation. Young Chads don't end up trans, its always the boys that have problems.

As far as the gay and straight thing goes, look into how many men end up gay after being sexually abused by men as children compared to men that were never abused. Turning people straight is also a myth as you cannot remove from a person their attraction to people. Sexuality is an addition only piece of psychology. How many guys here did something new with a woman and kind of like doing that new thing with every woman? That is how sexuality works, you add stuff to your "this gets me off" list, you don't remove things.

Oh, I forgot to mention - one of the panelists wrote a blog post titled "Non-Binary Is the New “Not Like Other Girls,” and it’s Deeply Rooted in Misogyny" and was promptly fired from her job at PromptWorks, a Philly-based software startup. A startup that also runs paid coding workshops for women only, workshops that I have attended. I just found that hilarious. They seem totally okay with women who do not identify as anything other than woman, but only when they're making money off of them.

I do, too. I feel intense empathy for anyone who feels different, or that they don't belong. If there's anything I took away from the marathon day, it's how important it is for women to model healthy behavior and do your best to live a happy life.

The problem is legislation that allows young people to self diagnose and get rx to transition. And there can’t be any challenge to the self diagnosing by medical experts without punishment.

TERF = Trans exclusionary radical feminist. It's nonsensical and mostly lobbed at women who refuse to center men. I've never met a radical feminist who did not include trans identifying men in their feminism, because they're still women. Just dummies mad about men not being at the center of the universe.

I'm not sure why you're being prickly towards me. I'm very sorry to hear that you feel uncomfortable sometimes, I hope that you do something about that. The next step will be to change the focus to the word "consent". There is a reason that there is suddenly a movement against the "bad" ped0s. Getting rid of the "bad" ped0s makes it easier to normalize the "good" ped0s.

I had a bad encounter with someone on this subject, which went like this:

"What would you call them?"
"The name I am told"
"What if you aren't given a name?"
"That person over there, I guess"

"And I won't be told which ones to use, certainly not have my choice potentially criminalized"
"Why not? Don't you see how hurtful it is to people?"
"Pretty sure it is hurtful to call someone in a parking lot a malignant kunt, but people do it"

"Well, this is a matter of freedom of speech"
"Oh, so it's great that I can (and she started screeching in a restaurant here) "CALL PEOPLE N***ER!!!" "CALL PEOPLE N***ER!!!""

And then people came over to tell her to stfu.

What I took from that conversation is that this is not simply a "speak nice to each other" movement; it is an assault on the freedom of expression. At least - on this specific area. Honestly I don't think people talk about it enough - the bill was passed in Canada, and it seems people simply sleep on this.

The point is NOT to run up to people in the street who are trying to "pass" or "be femme" and say "nice stubble, loser". That's what arseholes do. But I'm not going to be compelled byanyoneto suspend biological facts for whatever LARPing fantasy they wish to pursue.

You know, people who are all caught up in any "cause" and screaming at the sky (or others) about it are just annoying to most people. Be they radical Greenpeacers or Anti-Gluten-Vegan Nazis, most people just think they're tiresome. I think the same about people who are too political, or who want to try to drive wedges between the TWO genders, etc. Want to eat nothing but Quinoa and make love to your internet router? You do you but stop trying to make everyone else care about it.

People can tilt at whatever windmills they want, but in the end of the day the vast majority of men are still going to like sports and women will still have "sub" sexual fantasies over "dom" ones, due to our hard-wired lizard brains. (At least until they inject us all with DNA-altering nanos or something and then we're screwed as a species anyway.) And that's going to always influence our interactions with the other sex.

The indoctrination of young people is troubling, though.

I think you're referencing 1984 and the idea that facts can be changed? No, I don't think any rational person would agree with that. I can't really answer for anyone else because I didn't directly ask them their opinion on 2+2=5, but those speaking and others in attendance (is that who you're referring to? "Those people" isn't crystal clear) seem to have been logical people.
