I don't know if I see it in that way, or if I consider it a result of "women not centering to men."

I generally do not have enough information to say "This is because X" or that "empowerment" is intended as a tactic to make women more sexually available to men.

If that's what is happening, it does not seem that the intended effect was achieved. After all, there is a brewing incel community that has only seemed to grow.

If this was the case, I feel like somewhere along the way something went wrong, or horribly right?

I think I agree. Just like coloring your hair blue or getting face piercings people will treat you a certain way due to that change don’t expect to go full reverse gender and expect everyone to be onboard.

The second you start taking away my right to my own opinion is when we get into trouble on the issue.

Do whatever you want to your own body just don’t shove the ideology down my throat.

Interesting thread, a few new ideas to read about

I grew up as a raging ‘Tom Boy’ and loved trucks. Really scares me to think if I went through puberty now, things might be different. Would I have convinced myself to transition?

Starting to feel grateful my body is intact. Scary stuff.

Wouldn’t trade my boobies for anything.

Can anyone explain to me the incentive for these people to indoctrinate young people on such issues? What compels the trans agenda? Surely not votes, kids are too young to vote, so what is it?

IMO, generally speaking this the increase in trans kids comes immediately back to attention whoring. Why are more young girls going trans over boys? Because they're desperate for attention, as women/girls typically are. As if social media doesn't provide them enough as is.

It all boils down to "look at me, look at me." Seems as simple as that.

Phew, okay, listened and enjoyed a nice long walk outside!Absolutely loved the question about what, if anything, changed Abigail's mind during her research. I thought her answer was so honest, that these parents who are being told by the so-called experts that their children may die if they do not medically transition, and the idea that those who listen to the advice of doctors, are child abusers. They are far from it, and it's easy for us to say we would NEVER allow our daughters to go on testosterone, but I'm not sure that's true, if trained medical professionals and therapists and everyone else under the sun were saying that this is how to treat dysphoria. I also don't think it's how to change minds - I'm not persuaded when someone calls me names, and certainly not names that hurt children. If you actually care about an issue and want to change someone's mind, you don't label people trying their best as child abusers. I also think these same parents will be completely overwhelmed with guilt in about 5 years.

It’s insanity.
I think that's one part of the problem, yes. It was more than a little alarming to hear that 15 year olds in Oregon can self-diagnose and walk into a clinic and get hormones. I wasn't aware of any of that!

It's really not, especially when you start with "there are two genders." I think you mean sex.

I don't know if I see it in that way, or if I consider it a result of "women not centering to men."
I realize it sounds a little extreme. But think about it this way, I'm not trans exclusionary, I am male exclusionary in my private spaces, meaning that men cannot become women and identify their way into my locker room or whatever. But I also don't believe that women can become men. I'm not "trans exclusionary," women who identify as men are still women, they're absolutely welcome to share the powder room with me. That's why the TERF slur is completely nonsensical, but I'd expect nothing less from a cult trying to shame women with the audacity to stand up for themselves.

The trouble is that oftentimes it's more than just a debate on ideology. There are some people who just want to live their lives and they are fine to do that. There are other activists who are pushing for things that are not okay. I do not want to be on business trips in DC and have to deal with men in the women's bathroom. It is not my problem that gender nonconforming men might be assaulted in the men's bathroom, and that's the more innocuous instance. I do not want my younger female family members to lose out on sports because males now compete in the same class. I will not refer to my female colleagues as "non-male identified persons." I don't have children, but if I did I'd probably be pretty peeved that they are being taught some bizarrely regressive ideas about what girls are.

The pediatric endocrinologist discussed a lot of myths about suicide rates and brain development. I tried to furiously take notes, here's what I got out of it:

There is no test to determine what their gender is. It's always perceived, astate of mind. Anatomical reasons for gender are failures. Comparing brain structure to average female versus trans woman is futile, thee is no female brain in a male body and vice versa because gender is not a biologic state.

Denying affirmation leads to increased suicide = myth.

There is brain plasticity. Our brains get molded by our experiences which are inevitably gendered experiences. Human brain plasticity is really overlooked, it's something that makes humans unique from other mammals because it's possible throughout our lives and actually causes physical changes... So even comparisons to other animals re:gender are in a sense false comparisons due to brain plasticity, and responding to society/culture. Brain scans can't account for the social aspect.

The other endocrinologist mostly spoke about his experience detransitioning. Also, it was after 10pm by that point, I was barely hanging on.

I strongly disagree. Not only does it seem a bit lazy but it also isn't going to change anyone's mind who is strongly bought into a lot of the extreme trans ideology.

They did, you just didn't ask, but I'd be more than happy to share more. The pediatric endocrinologist Dr. Quentin Van Meter specifically discussed the myth that about denying affirmation leading to increased suicide. According to Dr. Van Meter, what is true is a 21% risk of suicide attempts during a trans person's lifetime, which is the same risk as patients with anxity, depression, or autism. New data from Sweden by Dr Branstrom looked at 2000 patients who were transgender, 1/2 of whom had surgical affirmation, with no improvement in mental health with medical transition alone.

You may have not, but someone else may have brought it up as the reason why you weren't truly happy with yourself. And what young girl is?

And LOL @ boobies, same here. I had a ballet instructor teach me how to bind my breasts which led to a whole scandal, as it should. Now self-harm is practically encouraged.

I think a big part of it is money. You put a kid on hormones and they'll be medicated their entire lives. I also really do feel that there are empathetic people out there who believe this is what's right.

I also think girls feel isolated and never good enough, and that's heightened by social media and just media in general. They're dealing with changing bodies and menstrual cycles and it must sound fabulous to opt out of all of that permanently. I do think some of it is social capital and attention, but I don't think that tells the whole story. I think back to when my body was changing and I would have rather died than have anyone looking at me, especially ogling socially retarded teenage boys. Opting out of that would have seemed like a dream, and it certainly wouldn't have been about attention.

Good job, bro!

I know it's tricky but everybody should spread the word about these conferences.
People need to wake up.
A lot of people are not sleeping but they are not vocal because they don't know that there are groups of people out there fighting for the right cause and normality.

I was surprised to see so many parents of older teens and young adults in attendance, and delightfully surprised to see so many men (note: full attendance was hidden to prevent doxxing, so I only saw who chose to use an avi in the Discord chat). One mother and activist, Lynn Meagher, spoke at length about losing both her son and daughter to what she perceives to be a cult.

Several speakers had me completely on board with what they were saying, but I'm still noodling on the idea that euphemistic phrases like "trans identifying males" or "trans women" shouldn't even be entertained. One particular speaker believed that adopting these terms deliberately obfuscates and confuses, and argued that women in particular should rely on their own perception and not be coerced into using this fake language. She referenced Andrea Dworkin's work around the "male power of naming," and that very time we say "trans women" or even "trans identifying" we are supporting every bit of bullchit and harm being done to us and others. Instead, she advocated for "men who demand I recognize them as women." Not so sure that I agree TBH. Thots?

I would never subject myself to listening to that idiocy for 1 min. let alone 13 hours. It is a movement of delusion and absolute insanity. I haven't been more disgusting at a societal and cultural push than pushing transgenderism, especially for kids. It is child abuse and a gross effort to corrupt the young and innocent.

This is why if I have kids someday, I will home school them. I will not allow the degeneracy of public institutions push insanity and try to sexualize kids. I will also not attend or partake in any sort of diversity/tranny agenda meetings in the corporate world if I ever decide to work in corporate.

This world is crumbling before our eyes and people are having 13 hour discussions on gender identity.

I think that's a lovely sentiment, Kaz. I heard from several parents really struggling with that, though - their children claimed to be happier yet also completely removed themselves not only from their former social circle but also their families. I think it can potentially be dangerous to do what makes your children happy. Key word, potentially

You wouldn't subject yourself to countless experts speaking against the idea of transitioning children....because you're against transitioning children? Can you clarify for me please, I'm confused why you're so adamantly against what I've posted.

I disagree.

Gender is a phony marxist concept. It only applied to grammar until maybe 50 or 60 years ago.

There are 2 sexes... male and female. Anything beyond that is some combination of sexual fetish, mental illness, and/or a desperate need for validation from a degenerate culture that has only recently decided it was virtuous.

A small percentage of people have genetic abnormalities, but that's better left for a separate biological discussion.

I ask you, in what alternate reality is this an example of a woman?

I think we're mostly on the same page here. My point is that it really is important to talk about middle aged men's AGP, and why men are beating up women at lesbian marches, and why female teenage detransitioners are being threatened, and why women are fired for writing about how the nonbinary concept is silly, and why the ACLU is threatening female lawyers who represent teenage athletes, and why Bill Gates is trying to create synthetic breast milk from female mammary glands, and why you can't really fight for sex-based rights if gender identity usurps sex.

Because the answer to all of this is not "there are two sexes." I think that's ridiculously oversimplifying why this is happening, and I think if you actually want to see change, you need to use your brain and talk about actual issues.

I think sex-based rights are being eroded and I want to stop it. I also worry about girls who despise being a girl so badly that they want to become a boy, and I want to stop that from happening. I find gender trends alarming and regressive, and bafflingly stupid how the left has decided that something is inherently wrong with gender nonconforming children, so wrong that they need to be fixed.
I also believe that it is mostly about girls feeling out of place and anxious and some very stupid adults encouraging it. I suspect that whatever fraction of this behavior isn't being fed by social media is being fed by ignorant therapists treating developing mainly atypical children like adults.

Same.

Of course I would respect the requested name/pronoun of someone I meet if they ask to the best of my ability.

Men in women's prisons? Um, no. Men in women's sports? Also no.

My cousin's daughter was a very attractive teen, but had an utterly useless mom and no father figure and found a group of damaged people who pushed the idea on her that she would be happier if she mutilated herself. Her mom was the "I'm my daughters best friend first, and mother second" type and dad left home when she was a toddler, so no one ever stopped her. She had a nice doctor who told mom that her daughter urgently needed to be mutilated and had her breasts hacked off at 19

Now she is a chubby manlet with a baby face and neck beard who is marrying an elderly predator. If she ever passed as a man she would be treated the exact same way as other overweight 5'6" manlet would be treated, which probably isn't the fantasy of being a powerful alpha male the subvertors planted in her vulnerable head
These stories scare me and also I think they need to be more widely shared TBH.

My daughter became friends with a girl in middle school who meets this description (seem to be on the spectrum, wants to be addressed with a male name) and I have heard her openly speak about how bad it is to be female and that is why she wants to be male. According to the mom the girl's father is abusive (most likely malignant NPD from description) and seems openly misogynistic. The girl has brothers and wants to be "one of the boys".

I don't approve of the friendship and thought that it was reduced/paused. Now it seems to be back on and maybe includes another girl(s). I strongly wanted my daughter to go to a different school this year, but I've been thwarted. I would really like to get her involved with a different social group.

kids are dumb and just copy each other
add in "woke" parents who want to have their very own transgender

This is my take on it too. I don’t have the answers. I do know lets not make fun of these people or make life harder for them. Theyre already dealing with a lot.

That said im not sure transitioning is the answer. The surgery does not lead to a good realistic outcome. Based on what I know which again im no expert id rather society treat them with respect so they dont feel its necessary to take that last step.

Most of them are mentally ill and persuaded to believe they're trans.... But if you don't call someone by their preferred gender you're just being a butthurt *******. If some schizo on the street was in my way yelling "I am Jesus! I am Jesus!" I would say "excuse me Jesus, move the fuk out my way *******" to be polite. Just call them what they want to be called, roll your eyes, and go about your day.

This.

90% of these kids and young adults do not transition because they truly feel they are a person of the opposite sex.

They do it because they are either:

Mentally ill.

Wanting attention/see it as a way to get social media clout.

Had difficulty getting attention from the opposite sex/couldn't get sex so they figured what the hell and switched.

I'm for trans rights as long as there is no criminal behavior and women's rights are also protected. I think in some situations it is appropriate to offer reassignment, and the medical research seems to corroborate this. As far as pronoun use, etc that's just nitpicky on either side. A person with visible male features shouldn't be offended at being called sir. I think sexual identity doesn't need to be broadcasted everywhere either. If a person is trans but tries to do their job and follow the law the best they can, I don't see why we cannot coexist.

As far as them being a tiny fraction of the population, true. But in any group of 150, you are fairly likely to find one. They are out there, and they aren't all p3dos, rapists, etc. Most are just people living very awkward lives, most likely due to brain developmental abnormalities.
