Its so sad seeing people like OP here with victim mentality.
If you treat yourself like a victim you become one. laws of nature

if you were truly for equality you would look past race and color and see people as individuals.

Its illegal but a white male would never win an EEO case in this climate.

It shall be an unlawful employment practice for an employer -

(1) to fail or refuse to hire or to discharge any individual, or otherwise to discriminate against any individual with respect to his compensation, terms, conditions, or privileges of employment, because of such individual's race, color, religion, sex, or national origin; or

(2) to limit, segregate, or classify his employees or applicants for employment in any way which would deprive or tend to deprive any individual of employment opportunities or otherwise adversely affect his status as an employee, because of such individual's race, color, religion, sex, or national origin.

This part is a little unclear, did half the team prefer the white guy or every other member of the team? If it's every other member then what is them being split down the middle about?

If the candidates were equally qualified, then I guess that is fine. Honestly though, race and gender shouldn't be factors at all.

Also, what's the job OP? What type of work?
I'm sure you have a ton of experience with black women in the workplace(if at all).

How come all these white miscers are so expert on black people?

You're making a lot of assumptions, you're doing the exact same thing OP did, and it's ironic that you can't even recognize that you're doing it.

In my company we hire solely on merit and how well they'd get along with everyone else. It's impossible that the two people OP mentioned were exactly the same merit wise, OP's HR should have, A - told him to get back to cleaning the bathrooms, and B - dug deeper to see who was the better candidate.

White men have benefited on race for decades, but when a black woman is hired its illegal?

Even if OP is trolling this is 100% a thing, but companies not wanting to hire black people is also a thing so probably evens out? Idk not a stats person.

The one time I did see a white male win was due to bonus structures. Female hires (stem, so hard to find) were given $30k signing bonuses and much faster vesting schedules for their options. White males were given nothing lmao. Apparently some white brah with lawyer connections caught wind, made a stink, and they cut him a check for $50k to go away.

Yo why cant people read.

Op said the candidates were both qualified and equal. The desire for diversity was merely a tiebreaker.
