Mirin. Corporate America is like 95% white people. Nothing wrong with adding diversity in a situation like this, where both candidates are qualified. Diversity is an asset in the workplace and I'm glad your employers see it the same way.

If two candidates are neck and neck, I would hire based on who's personality I like better (basically what kind of vibe they give off). Merit over everything though. Because in the end, I want my company to succeed. And the best person in each job title benefits the company/me.

although op is a troll cases like these are extremely rare. Studies have shown that attractive people have a huge leg up over their competition in every single aspect. White men and women are seen as the most attractive by pretty much every single race there. In my comp sci program, all the white kids managed to land far more interviews and good positions at companies even if their marks and personal projects sucked ass while the indian and asian kids were lucky to get a single interview. If candidates were equal then white people will be picked every single time over the competition. Replace an indian kid's name in my program with something like Alex Smith and they'll land 10x more interviews

Good for the lady op. Good for you. I don't think anyone really cares. I hope you have more going on in your life than to try to get a rise out of people online.

I think more people care about the ongoing anarchy and chaos by BLM and antifa. I've never in my life seen such horrific self-sabotage of a political cause. It's even worse because everyone agreed at first, and least regarding Floyd. With friends like that, who needs enemies? This **** will not be resolved for generations. It probably won't be resolved at all as long as we are human. Look after yourself and your own but don't get mad when others do the same.

Yep. Also I don't like other groups trying equate their struggles with Black folks under the "POC" umbrella b/c those groups also harbor a LOT of anti-Blackness.

People think America is racist but I wouldn't step in parts of Latin America or China knowing how anti-Black they are.

It’s opposite at my job. Owner/partner black and doesn’t like to hire black candidates because they flake very fast or aren’t honest(long extended lunches, to many days off). No racist but it’s what I’ve seen. The only one that stayed was a friend who is white without any experience in our industry.


I don’t have any say in the hiring I just give my advice when asked and only look at qualities/mannerisms etc. idc race weight or looks. Just do the job and get there on time at least.

People tend to group with those they are most familiar with.

I can't be mad, because I definitely get preferential treatment due to the halo effect from being a decent looking dude who is in good shape.

It's not, it's just feel good BS speech. Saying that makes him feel good. Whereas putting in work, like for example bailing a kid out of jail, letting them stay in your house, helping them get their life together, that would take real work.

There's a saying that sword wouldn't know about. You train as you fight, so I don't go around praising anyone, they're expected to do well, and I push them to do well. But I'm not gonna congratulate someone for the bare minimum, and if you think a black woman getting a job because she's black, regardless of whether the other candidate who happens to be white may be a better cultural fit, or a better worker is uplifting her, then IDK what to say. Maybe try telling the woman that, let's see what she thinks. No two people are equal at anything. dig deep enough and you'll certainly find who is best, but OP instead of doing that, decided that they needed more "diversity", and that's what racism is in a nutshell.
