Technically it seems to be an update that would enable COVID 19 tracking apps to work on your phone. However, them installing that covertly is a bad sign, in and of itself.


I gave up using a smartphone a few months ago. I'm not paranoid regarding my individual life, but collectively by using smartphones we are enabling the mass surveillance and data gathering of the population.

On samsung it's installed but not activated, You have the option to turn it on or off but by default it's turned off, stop spreading false info op

I mentioned that in that thread, they already have mass surveillance of our online behaviour.

COVID 19 is now being used as a pretext for mass surveillance of our offline behaviour, via 'health passports', medical data and socializing habits via track and trace, facial recognition software, etc. Like Islamic Terrorism was used to gain mass surveillance of our online behaviour.

If you own a cell phone, you're being tracked. Regardless of COVID-19. The problem is, the cell phone is now embedded into our lives, and so much depends on using one. So, with that said, get used to being tracked and having less privacy.

They aren't.

If you ditch your smartphone, and even leave your lo tech phone at home more often than you take out, that eliminates a lot.

Plus using a VPN, and anti-tracking broswers.

Also, refusing to have wireless devices in your home. If you have a Smart TV, Alexa or Google Nest in your home, you are literally letting them spy on your conversations in your home.

my pixel 2 was turned off and it says "install a participating app"

wouldn't be surprised if it was actually defaulted on by some toxic app like snapchat or tiktok that you have installed

I think it's part of the updated (as of May) operating systems. No way to remove the functionality but it can be (and is by default) turned off. Mine is off.

Simple Tech where possible.

Refusing Smart Meters, Smart TVs, WIFI, ALEXA, Google Nest, in your home.

Speaking out against 5G.

Speaking out against facial recognition technology, etc.

I really don't want to go back to the days before WiFi and smart phones. I realize the tracking that is done with these devices but they have made my life so much easier. I'm in the aviation world and being able to get weather and air traffic info and updates when I need them saves me an immense amount of time (and therefore $).

I think that is why a lot of people say things like "We just have to get used to it, they already track us" because they don't want to give up the convenience of smart technology. There are clear ways to not feed the system.

The problem, for me, with non Apple/Google devices is that there is little relevant aviation software for those devices. Software such as ForeFlight is essential to me.
