Ascend the mountain. Never look down, never live in the past. Always soldier onward into oblivion and beyond. If nothing inside you remains but one thing.... let it be a fight,

Appreciation of small things, time in nature, time with friends, and art are IME the antidote to existential angst.

IMO existential angst is rooted in the way you feel about reality.

Relevant short video...

Thanks brah, nah never read a book other than for high school, I just listen to audiobooks. I used to journal but it feels more like a chore than something cathartic . Thank you for that video, it's very helpful. Really emphasized how the destination shouldn't be the goal and just because things are more anticipated than others, doesn't negate the intrinsic beauty of the smaller things that we take for granted daily. I feel like regret is directly rooted in not being appreciative when you had the chance to and not utilizing the opportunity to its fullest extent. We cheat our selves when we don't acknowledge the small things. I'm definitely working on being more present.

I am the type of guy to fall into the habit of seeing life through a narrow scope and ignoring everything in the background. I notice when I think about something, everything else stops existing. I can only think of one topic at a time lmao

Sounds like you lack purpose or aren't really doing much all day.

Are you working/school?

That's the feeling I would get to remind me it's time to crack open the bottle of a Sailor Jerry. Seems I got that figured out currently..... somewhat. Sober 8 months and don't have that feel ... maybe on Monday nights.

No man has the right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training. It is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.

Dude, I think you are doing a disservice to yourself, and to others, by not writing as a hobby. Your writing has a flow and poetry to it.

Letters, a blog, short stories, a novel, etc... You seem to have a natural talent that can be developed.

Please, don't go let the sense of psychological isolation and existential angst make you go Yukio Mishima on us though, brah.

(Listening to an audiobook and reading a book are arguably the same experience, if full attention is given to the audiobook.)
Thank you for that video, it's very helpful.
You're welcome.

I think you are on to something.

When I think back, if I was more appreciative I would have savoured and honoured the experience, and other beings, more.

I have the same tendency.

When I was young (for a few reasons) I learned to retreat into my own thoughts, I've had to spend time learning to connect my mind more to the external world. Spending time in nature is what does it for me the best. Skin contact with nature.

I'll also strongly advise you OP to read this...

Opening Up by Writing It Down, Third Edition By James Pennebaker and Joshua Smyth. It goes into the the numerous studies, and how to, of writing in order to process experiences.

Like the studies show it improves mental and physical health. It also only takes 4 days a week to do, so you won't get burnt out doing it because you have 3 days 'off'.

I think something like the above is really important for men in particular to do, because we rarely have someone, or feel courageous enough, to speak about things that have bothered us or are bothering us emotionally. At least through writing we can work on processing experiences alone.
