Vast majority of crypto ico’s are just fiat recycling ops while making the owners rich. Do people actually think a stock that had 1000% gains in a year is any different

Tesla is just as much an energy and technology company as they are an automaker. Batteries are the most expensive part of their product and they are quickly becoming cheaper and better year after year. The combustion engine has been perfected as much as possible but battery and EV tech is just getting started. Software upgrades make it possible that a car can be upgraded after you drive it off the lot without buying expensive accessories. V2G will soon allow you to make money off buying cheap electricity from the grid during off hours and selling it back during peak hours. Also memes

The combustion engine ain't perfected as much as possible, Koenigsegg is still innovating and pushing out big advancements. Look up their TFG engine in the Gemera, a 2L 3-cylinder w/ FreeValve and no camshaft, weighs 70kg while putting out 600hp and 600nm of torque with crazy efficiency and the ability to use "green" fuels

Yes, sort of like LOL at Manchester U football club investing in an 8 year old boy? Why invest in him when hes not even playing professional ball and bringing in fans to the stadium? Is that your logic?

I might have missed it but is there a path to taking this technology and infusing it into a $40k car for the masses?

We can call Tesla a tech company but things like vehicle automation still require huge amounts of work and I expect Battery Day to be a disappointment. Elon is a master hype-builder though and people lap it up while ignoring the consistent lack of execution

the most a software update can do is change the sound of your whoopee cushion farts on your tesla or make it harder for you to access features.

it will NEVER add real performance updates. software cannot improve efficiency of batteries or improve circuitry, it will just fuk with your chit even more just like apple fuks with your iPhones for free.

Some will say they feel cheap. Others appreciate the minimalist cabin. What feels cheap to me are american cars with plastic dashboards and cloth headliners.

As a car guy, I appreciate all types and Tesla is one of them. I was going to buy a P100D this year but decided to forgo the purchase and buy the stock.....If all plays out right, the P100D will pay for itself 3x over LOL
Ahhh yes the resident Tesla cultist... But its more than just a car company, battery day, durr. The are extremely unsafe and made for soyboys. You were probably driving a Prius a few years ago.

Who cares if they go back to the shop? I don't want to spend my days off dropping off my car at the shop over and over because of how unreliable it is. I always lolz when this hippie ER physician drives her Firefighter husbands F350 Turbo Diesel to work because her Tesla is in the shop again. They are pieces of ****

Not saying the stock isn't amazing and its making alot of people money but the products are not well made. Its all marketing

FreeValve specifically might have something in mind, you know how it goes in terms of tech development and cost curve. But it'll be rolled out in a (expensive af) production car, that's pretty cool by itself and evidence of the potential gains there are still to be made

The only thing that has ever impressed me is the torque off the line. Everything else about those cars just seems 1-2 points below standard.

Exterior is meh. The minimalist interior look does not impress me. The touch screen is annoying.

I wish the company well, but they are just not for me, especially since they are essentially the new NPC prius.

I don't really pay attention to Tesla but if you look at the story of Theranos and Elizabeth Holmes it demonstrates that investors can keep an irrational balloon floating for a long long time.

Haha, you are making yourself look like a fool son. You might want to search the threads. I have posted my choices in cars many times before. Some are even big slab american cars. Others not the most reliable but definitely respected machines.

As stated, I dont own the car. I do own the stock and open to buying a Tesla in the future. Just chose to put my money on the stock vs the actual car first.

True I ask because I am unaware of innovative technologies engineered by high end companies like Koenisgsegg and or Pagani make it into main line cars. Tesla seems to be doing just that with the Model S to the 3.

It is amazing that its value is that high. Wall Street is forward thinking and believes their electric vehicles with auto drive will be the vehicles most will want to own. They have a substantial lead over other car companies with their batteries in particular.

I guess the other day Tesla announced batteries will be available in a couple years that are 50% more powerful than current batteries. If I read that correctly I imagine that changes how many view e-vehicles.

I think they were actively losing money for many many years. They only managed to stay afloat thanks to loans, Elon being a meme, and investors that looked past the chitty returns because of the hype behind "futuristic" cars. It's only recently (end of 2019 and beginning 2020) that they have been churning out profits but I'd wait until the end of the year once they've posted all of their earnings and loses to make a final comment.

People can invest in whatever they want but people really need to invest in companies that can churn out a profit before dumping money into it. Willing to bet most of the tesla shareholders are only in it because if they all sold their shares the company would plummet and they would lose money. Edit: I hold shares in about 9 companies and they all churn out profits despite the Covid fiasco.

The smart folks sold their shares at 2200+ USD. The share is sitting at 475$ as of right now. That's a drop of like 78% in 3 days.

Most of their stuff isn't easily scalable, I doubt we'll see hollow carbon fiber wheels on mainstream vehicles. But this TFG engine is largely made possible by FreeValve, a subsidiary of Koenigsegg but a separate company in its own right. Looking into this a bit more, they deployed similar technology on the $30k Qoros 3 (Chinese brand) in 2016

To be fair, Teslas are expensive for mainstream cars and even moreso without the subsidies.

Some combination of a super efficient ICE capable of utilizing green fuels + electrification would probably enable a much faster transition from today's gas guzzlers. The reality of pure electrification is that it'll be a long, drawn-out transition no matter how you slice it.

This seems to be a pretty solid article about it

I'll forgive you since not everyone follows this closely. But the share price you quoted is misleading. Tesla did a 5 for 1 stock split starting Monday. If you had 1 share last week, you now have 5, and the price changes proportionally. But there has been no decline in the value of the stock.
