Misc Post Your Alpha Ancestors (Pic)

Great Grandfather. Was in WW1 in the pic. Was in a battalion that saw some of the most action in the war. Was left for dead at a farm in France as they marched on, but the family found him and nursed him back to health. Everyone thought he was dead but he came back 3 months after his unit did and showed up at the front door. He was 6'4 and had hands the size of baseball mits. Had 8 kids. Had an extremely high IQ I guess, but became a major alcoholic after the war which eventually caused his death later in life.

Absolute alpha though

Crazy part is they all were between 6'2 and 6-8 with absurdly large hands. Dad is 6'7. I come from a family of giants.

But then my other side is Swedish and they are all shorter and built like little tanks.

6'6. E-1 @ Ft. Knox (trained for Armor but attached to an infantry company because of his shooting skills) around 1951/1952. Got drafted and sent to Camp something or other. Did two years there making multiple raids across the DMZ into NK. Came out as an E9.

He told me once about his platoon standing against a company (about 20-30 vs 100-150) and platoon had the high ground while the NK were behind a burm and trench. All they could see was the tops of heads occasionally bobbing above the dirt. So granddad said "Well, i reckoned those were as good a target as any so I put a 30-06 through any hat i saw pop up. Forcing that company to retreat got our entire unit a presidential citation. But it was a group effort. Had little to do with me." (The M1 Garand fires a 30-06 and the NK wore hats most of the time rather than helmets. Absolute boss

You can tie the ends up (the feet holes) and they will hold air so you can loop them around your head and use them as a floatation device. Also, MUUUUCH easier to grab when i ma is going overboard or already int he water

My great great grandfather died at the height of the fight for yaqui independence at just 24.

I'm a quarter Yaqui which is an indigenous group in Mexico of aztec origin. Long history but for such a small group they fought for independence from Mexico all the way from the Spanish arriving until like 1927 and somehow were able to last that long. They literally drew a line in the sand and basically said anyone that crossed it would die. Spanish crossed it and they eventually retreated.

Within 150 years Mexico took the population from 50k to 5k by executing anyone that was yaqui or enslaving them so it's feels pretty crazy to have any lineage with them. Even though many died they were fierce warriors and would often kill 6 for every 1 of their dead in battle and they had warrior women which were sometimes referred to as the modern day Amazons of America. They would be captured with injuries and not express any signs of pain.

Spanish colonizers came and established Mexico. Yaqui and the other indigenous groups originally inhabited the land. They wanted to maintain their freedom, way of life, and continue to inhabit their land.
