Takes balls to go on a boar hunt with a knife, can't wait for the video.

not srs.

EDIT: Just saw your other post, you're legit going in with a knife. Careful not to trip over your massive balls.

NuggzTheNinja,

I've narrowed down my plate choice to either Hesco U210 or Hesco 3810... Wat do?

For shooters cut 10x12

U210:
- More expensive about $750/plate
- Thinner about .5 inch
- rated for M855A1
- Not rated for M80
- Weight 3.7lbs

3810:
- less expensive about $550/plate
- Thiccer .98 inch
- not rated for M855A1
- rated for M80 and many commie 7.62x54
- Weight 3.8lbs

I've read that U210 can take M80 but backface deformation is 2mm more than desired

I've read that 3810 probably can *not* take M855A1

Weight difference is negligible

I think the U210 thinner plate would be nice, but unnecessary as 3810 .98" isn't bad at all

... so I guess it comes down to is:How important is M855A1 protection?

If it's not that important, then I think I'll go with 3810's because I'll save about $400 total between the set of plates.

Given almost no civilian will have this, and the majority of shooters (criminals) just shoot whatever, I doubt it will be that important. Nice, but not needed.

You plan on pissing off the military or Feds, than it might be worth it.

Looks pretty decent in the ballistics gel test and that’s a solid modern price

I'd carry good reliable 9mm FMJ for defense before going back to any Winchester. But then I've had three separate Ranger rounds from three separate types (RA45TP, RA9B, RA9T) that were failures which should have never made it through QC in addition to Winchester .22lr kaboom and many WWB and Winchester Training failures....like 10x more Winchester failures than every other brand of ammo combined.

I'm sure it's mostly their primers. Winchester primers are garbage. I've used every brand and won't even buy those in a pinch now. Still, right now I just don't know if I should be picky.

A couple of our carry guns are shorter barrel (Glock 43). I've seen a lot of gel tests where 147g fails to expand because of insufficient velocity in short bbls. Would probably be fine I'm sure. Normally I'd be using a g48 or g19.

3810s honestly. The military is pretty much the only group on the field using that round and if you're tangling with them, one rifle round is the least of your worries.

Thanks man

What other plates would you use over the 3810s that aren't $1000+/plate?

Separate question: is .98" too thicc for "concealable" if for whatever reason I were to want to throw a jacket over a slick carrier with 1" plates?

I'll probably end up getting those dope ass hesco 4800lv plates down the line... like 3 or so years from now

Somebody your size could probably conceal 1" plates in a slick carrier while earing acoat, like a winter jacket. But since this is currently September and you're last known location was Arizona, I'd stipulate the answer varies based on what you mean by 'jacket'

It depends if you're willing to cut corners on size...a lot of the plates (longfris from Botach - probably Chinese components) and LAPG plates work well but they're spec'd off. As in the 10x12s aren't really 10x12, they're like half an inch of foam on all sides, that's how they get them so light. Ironically, the Chinesium Botach plates actually use SiC which is the better of the ceramic body armor materials.

With concealability, it's kind of a weird answer. Almost any coat, no matter how thick (unless it's like a puffy winter coat, but even then...) will show the rear plate if you're bending forward. It isn't obvious from far away but from even 10 yards away you can really tell. Otoh, if you're just standing all terracotta soldier nobody can tell what you have under a good winter coat, even if your plates are an inch thick. In this pic I'm wearing 1" polyethylene and ceramic plates, 4 mags, and a smoke grenade.

Speaking of plates

Let's say you're putting cheap armor in your "peaceful protestors are on my block" chest rig. Oh and you're only going with what's in stock like, right now.

Do you just get iiia soft panels, BAO ceramic plates, or Cati AR600 with coating?

Legit don't want to spend more than like $250 because it's never gonna get used. But then again, BLM and election season.

Do you just get iiia soft panels, BAO ceramic plates, or Cati AR600 with coating?

Legit don't want to spend more than like $250 because it's never gonna get used. But then again, BLM and election season.
Yea Plates are larpy for sure. If it came down to an actual civil war there would need to be some organized groups/militias, don’t think you’re gonna need to provide 100% of your own gear in that scenario.

I’m still gonna get some because I like turning off all my lights when it’s dark and clearing my downstairs and basement with my $450 flashlight and plates are gonna bring my larping to the next level lol

Every scrub who watched a few Garand thumb video thinks they need NODS and armor now, kinda ridiculous
