I’ve never commented on the Russian accusations because they are, far as i know, impossible to substantiate (and I don’t really care)

His ‘wealth’ (or lack thereof) is his whole brand though. Btw, his latest tweet doesn’t say the ny times documents are ‘fake’, it says they were ‘illegally obtained’! And could all be so easily disproved by Trump himself with his tax returns. Surely he will release them before the election?

Same situation here. The difference is that the topic is new and exciting, hence the propensity to want to believe it.

Just so were clear. Your evidence of authenticity is the fact that Trump has not outright called the documents fake in his latest tweet? Put yourself in his shoes. He isn't sure exactly what the NYT has. Maybe they are just bluffing on the whole thing. Maybe they have something, but is a complete fabrication, not too farfetched, just look at the Steele Dossier. With the lack of info, it is prudent to hit on the one thing you know is true, that obtaining said information is illegal.

Maybe this dirty trick would've worked better pre-russia collusion investigation. And also pre- every other hit piece based on anonymous sources. You are basically admitting that this is nothing but a dirty PR battle. If so, at least you're honest. I question your confidence in it's effectiveness though. I think the general public is smarter than you give them credit for.

He knows exactly what they have. If his businesses weren’t racking up losses he could dispel all that easily. Why on earth wouldn’t you?

It goes back to his previous libel trial that i quoted. Gets called a bum with little to no net worth, sues and goes to trial, is asked (quite reasonably) to provide evidence for the assets he claims to own.. and refuses! Sounds legit to me

That is your opinion, but I don't mind that.

I'd argue that career politicians tailor-make their tax returns to look perfect. Because they file them knowing that they will be publicly released. If you've been a big time real estate mogul for 30 years, and suddenly ran for president, you don't have that luxury. Seems more like he doesn't want to give his opponents any ammunition. It's actually made some of them crazy because they are left with nothing but blind speculation. Plus I'm betting there is a large portion of Americans that can appreciate the fact that certain parts of life should still remain private.

Foreigner retards love to give half their money to the government.

Foreigner retards don't remember America started wars over taxes.

Foreigner retards don't understand every single American will do literally everything they can to pay as few/little taxes as possible.

Does he? Having access to your own tax records is one thing. Not the same as knowing what records, if any, the NYT has possession of. From a PR standpoint, I don;t see how it hurts trump that his businesses are losing money. Could easily say, it was because he would rather focus on being the President yadda yadda yadda...

Now consider the inverse. Imagine if the NYT said his business were all loaded. The leftwing narrative would be something to the effect of: "Trump continues to make billions off of his office while americans are still suffering unemployment yadda yadda yadda..."

(Again, this is all speculation since the NYT has outright refused to release anything that would substantiate it's claims.)
It goes back to his previous libel trial that i quoted. Gets called a bum with little to no net worth, sues and goes to trial, is asked (quite reasonably) to provide evidence for the assets he claims to own.. and refuses! Sounds legit to me
I'll look into that trial you cite.
Though, if it happened as you say, this is an example of Trump not taking the bait. Is that the real reason for the frustration?

He took the bait, because he was the one that sued. When push came to shove, he blinked

i sense some cognitive dissonance in many trumpers. if they didnt have TDS then naturally they would be yelling, "trump mog these fools, give them the business, then sue to oblivion"

but they cant go with that natural inclination because they know how it will end. so instead they cling onto whatever other explanations they can come up with

Its pretty much the standard for people in real estate investing not to pay taxes. Only idiots and poor people believe otherwise. One of the biggest advantages to real estate is how its taxed. There is a reason why a large portion of the wealthy are into real estate.

Trump ultimately had to admit 30 times that he had lied over the years about all sorts of stuff: how much of a big Manhattan real estate project he owned; the price of one of his golf club memberships; the size of the Trump Organization; his wealth; his speaking fees; how many condos he had sold; his debts, and whether he borrowed money from his family to avoid going personally bankrupt. He also lied during the deposition about his business dealings with career criminals.

This is some hard core mental masturbation right here.

Can you post something that isn't an opinion piece? Also, clearly it is trying connect that 2007 suit with the Trump-Russia collusion narrative. Just look at the date of the editorial.
I'm sure you can find a source that pre-dates his presidential campaign. Anything after will be fraught with political bias.

the lowest level of "middle class" income at 40k would pay on average 14% of their income in taxes which is around 4k...LOL

People I have told this to for years are surprised...

Real-estate gains are taxed when the returns are realized. Depreciation almost always out paces Net Income before depreciation to the point where it would be extremely rare to be taxed at all.

If such a basic accounting principle is so confusing to you, maybe look into an entry level accounting class at your local community college.... It's clear you didn't pay attention in highschool.

The problem is finance is not tought enough in schools. People think debt is bad. And for the poor and middle class, it is. But for the ultra wealthy and successful, its business as usual.

Kind of wild. Not even hard to explain why you wouldn't be taxed on a paper "loss"....

From the perspective for potato OP, let me explain it in a way you may understand: your wagecel job fires you on 12/31/2019.... You don't work for an entire year, go back to school, and collect zero net income... Should you pay income tax for the year 2020? By your logic, yes.... By normal people logic, no.

He couldn't even ball park the personal taxes for someone making 40k... Which can be done in about 2 minutes with a cell phone calculator. Why would anyone take corporate tax advice from him?

An individual with no kids making $40k would have an effective tax rate of 7.85% Paying about $3139.
