Did it boyos, hit a new bench PR, (PRs and reps abound)

Bench has been historically weak af, still is. But surprised I got 9 with 215 lbs here, could have maybe grinded 10 with a spotter, but didn't want to risk it and a roll of shame probably wouldn't go so well with a belt and in gym traffic. ended off with some paused squats, lets get it boyosss

Great bench man, looks really tight.

Watch that little double bounce on your paused squats, that could eventually cause lumbar problems.

Thanks bud, true on the squats. It honestly wasn't that heavy or hard for me but some more control on it would be better going forward.

I learned my lesson once lol. Roll of shamed the weight, didn't dump the weight on the ground but it was imperfectly executed so I ended up stumbling slightly and knocking some 120 lb twink into the ground lol. Felt bad afterwards and have avoided doing it ever since. I've seen people tried to roll of shame then suddenly realizing they have a thick ass belt on them lol. Obviously still doable but alot harder if you don't have the technique down

clean technique all around, mang. Nice reps. Haven't back squatted in a couple months but I've been working on my mobility to improve my front squats and it's coming along. You look very comfortable in the hole. Do you do FS?

thanks. I haven't front squatted in over a year but last time I did it I was just messing around and I think I hit around 235 for a single rep. Wasn't difficult or near max effort though. I have really trash wrist and thoracic mobility so I use the x-grip instead of clean grip. I've always been more of a "quad dominant squatter" (high-bar, narrower stance, toes only slightly pointed out) so I don't really get much out of it outside of a sore upper back, lol. I'll throw it in from time to time for a change but nothing major.

I have the opposite problem; I can get a good front rack and keep my back pretty tight but my hips and ankles are so immobile that I can sink into the FS nicely. I've seen some improvement from sitting in the squat position for time as a warm up but I still have a long way to go.

i have pretty terrible hips and ankles as well too in terms of mobility. oly shoes definitely help and experiment with your stance. A wide stance is absolute hell on my hips which is why I go more narrow. You also might be slamming your knees forward too much, making it harder to hit depth. Imagine moreso sitting down with your hips without your knees moving as much, or have your feet more angled and go more knees out than knees forward. Typically for my squat warm up I simply grab some 45s, put on each side of the barbell, then have the barbell rest on my thighs while in the squat position, then hold it for 30 seconds. Seems to work well for me.

My warm up is similar except I'm in more of a goblet squat position with a 10kg plate for stability/downward force. I've now started sitting in the squat without a plate and this is much harder on my hips but I think it's the next step in developing a good bottom position. I am currently learning the olympic lifts, so I'm really working on developing my mobility more than I have in the past. I have the same lifting shoes as you and I agree that they've made a huge difference. As for knees out, that's also a cue I give myself. I have very long legs and probably immobile hips so, like you, a narrower stance with feet out is what's most comfortable for me.
