Really, it's not a question of tradies vs stemcels. It's more a question of the economy and society in general becoming overly specialized. In order to do anything of value these days, you must become an expert in a particular discipline. This necessarily means you are forced to miss out on other knowledge. Society doesn't reward generalists as much anymore. Since your job is just 1 thing and you do that for like 30+ years, you end up kind of stuck in your way of thinking. A skilled tradesman gets extensive knowledge and education in his particular trade, but misses out on the general information one would think would be relevant to a general understanding of existence. For a functional democracy, most people ought to be well versed in science, math, history, economics, art, law, psychology, business, trades, war/defense etc. It's impractical for most people to obtain this education while the economy really forces them to specialize.

He really thinks industrial electricians only make 20/$hr.

I’d ask for a refund from his college for his worthless piece of paper.

Yes. Licensed tradie shows apprentice how to wire stuff, apprentice wires stuff for x amout of hours/years. Apprentice then becomes licensed tradie.

What if my parents were evil/mentally ill? My mom would have been proud if I had grown up to murder people she claimed were stalking and manipulating her and if I had been her incestuous slave. Why should making her proud have ever been my goal in life? You seem to think all parents are like your parents. You do realize that some parents are not good people, right? Making them proud is not always a good thing.

I have to call you out on this. You clearly have no clue what they really do and what is involved. It's like saying I'm a CPA because I can do my own taxes and balance my checkbook. All you do is put numbers in the calculator right?

Our 1st level apprentices make 33.40 an hour. That's 50 percent of a journeyman here. Then add in the benefit package as well

Most locals post their pay on their website.

Just admit that you're a failure by any metric.

what exactly are you insinuating in your example is different from regular college?

x professor teaches x student x formula. have fun only knowing how to plug in formulas

i thought generally speaking pre-reqs are considered useless (though it depends on what you do). it's supposedly in the specialization that college differentiates itself from high school education for example; or even the difference between majors like psychology and a high level physicist or brain surgeon or something.

is it in the general knowledge or specialization that college is "special"?

Yeah I bet, in the UK it's the same sparkies/plumbers make a ton of money, and you're able to branch out and build your own company once you know what you're doing, these degrees in college are mostly for being a small cog in a large machine that will always require a company to work for as that's what the job is designed for.
