I check the official CDPR message boards and the CP2077 subreddit every so often. For a game that hasn't been released they're very active, and people will post the **** out of any new information.

I still say it should be 3rd person, or at least 3rd person in social spaces like Destiny or during conversations like Mass Effect...something. Not much point in customizing a character you never see.

The reason nobody talks about it any more is that it is what it is at this point.

eh, the game is about immersive roleplay first and foremost, and the experience will be nowhere similar if you're looking through an overhead camera instead. When your character gets thrown to the ground, has a gun to their face, gets approached by a bunch of Terminator-looking corpos, is staring at a stripper's titties... of course you'll feel a lot more like you're there if you look through their eyes rather than from a distance, and the action will feel a lot more intense. Wielding weapons in 1st person is also more satisfying, and the game is big on looting guns too.

We all know what we look like IRL, so to speak. We do just fine checking ourselves out in mirrors and cameras every once in a while. I think the most CP2077 needs to have is a photo mode so you can take a peek while you're in the world itself.

"crunch" in Poland isn't like in the US, what's reported is that workers will have to pick up an extra weekend shift until release. and they'll be compensated appropriately for the over time. not like they'll be doing 100/hour weeks and sleeping in the office. so the amount of extra work needed is probably marginal.

3rd person RPG's are the norm, which is not to say it's the right choice for CP2077 specifically. RPG's that primarily rely on guns and controlling a single character will be 1st person more often than not - Deus Ex, Far Cry, Borderlands, Bioshock, etc. There are shooters like Mass Effect and RDR that are primarily or 3rd person only, but the gunplay isn't as focal to the game.

CP2077 will be heavy on roleplay and non-gunplay solutions to quests so I understand why people would want 3rd person like most other titles. But so to speak, there's a difference between playing Captain Shepard, and feeling like you're actually in the situations the character finds itself in Mass Effect. If you're going for immersion rather than playing through a story, it's way more effective to look through the character's eyes. That's the reason why there are a lot of horror games in 1st person even when it makes the game clunkier and more frustrating than it would be in 3rd person.

It's perfectly fine to agree to disagree but imho the game will change your mind once it's out. We'll see :P
