If you aren't mounting nods to it and actually want ballistic protection buy a used MICH for less.

Today I went to do the 4347 form (or whatever it's called) and I bought home defense ammo, seemed expensive @ $47 for a box.

Going to pick up one more box when I go to pick up my MP9 this Friday. Should I get target or home defense ammo?
a home defense firearm should always have self defense ammo in it. standard ball 9mm ammo is likely to pass completely through causing less damage. a hot hollow tip will be much more effective at inflicting damage. keep in mind though, shot placement is the most important factor, as is your firearm working reliably.

if you choose to run a specific type of HD ammo run a few boxes through your pistol so you know itl work and not cause jams

shouldn't matter if I'm going for headshots right?

technically this is true, a 9mm fmj round directly to the forehead is going to drop an attacker real fast. but what if you miss? it would seem to be a safer bet to aim center of mass, if you hit exactly where you're aiming itl sever the spine, and fuk up the heart. if you miss, itl penetrate the lungs. in that situation jhp rounds would be more beneficial.

fmj to the forehead would be nasty, a HP to the forehead would be horrific. Both are of a do not want status, but i'd imagine the latter even more so.

Just a head up (no pun intended) ballistic helmets are fckin' uncomfortable. Wore one a few times when messing around with out CRT guys and it's heavy, and made me feel like I had a constant bad head ache. I'd sooner take my chances just not getting shot in the head, for what that's worth; shrapnel protection from it would be nice though.

You can always go balls deep and get this bad ass.

This Covid/Election/BLM stuff has caused so many weird conversations regarding firearms. lol

Don't aim for a headshot in a home defense situation. Much, much smaller target, and any misses will likely exit your home. Go center mass (chest) with multiple rounds. Misses count a LOT in HD scenarios.

$30/box for FMJ and $47/box for defensive stuff is insane by any previous standard, but I guess that's what people are paying. Now. Get whatever you want to practice with, but only buy hollow points for defensive purposes.

also, fmj has a round "face", and the skull is not flat, it is also round, and very thick. Chances of a deflection are quite high. The Hollow point is a square face and better chance. But the skull still is what it is, either aim for the nose (i forgot the special name for it) because it's soft tissue and will be a shot that stops the assailant/aggressor. Then nose is super small to aim for, so as others have mentioned, stick to center mass
the above post is not serious and is for entertainment purposes only.
Thanks for your time.

Depends on the distance I would say. The standard for 00 buckshot is a payload of nine 33 caliber round balls. A round balls basically behaves like fmj rounds so you'd get neat holes with less tissue damage than a hp round. Up close and personal, a buckshot load takes out a considerable amount of paper, more than a slug. Out further, you get one hole for a slug and nine much smaller holes for buckshot

1. If you have to ask these questions, you're not proficient enough to be attempting to headshot someone under stress.

2. Defensive ammo is usually better quality controlled than bulk range ammo.

I wouldn't base your defensive plan on the effect of someone who is totally surprised getting shot at a range of zero with a shotgun.

I also wouldn't bet my life on a psychological stop.

You can get them on ebay all day.

Have you ever worn a helmet though? They're pretty awful and they arent rated to stop rifle fire.

I think the only less expensive option for night vision, that's actually worth it, would be a pvs14.

Otherwise, just spend more and get high quality L3 white phosphor tubes in either RNVG or DTNVG configuration

It appears to be same as xps3 in specs besides the larger footprint from using AA batteries.

I prefer it because AA are everywhere compared to CR123 which is what xps3 uses.
I would just get cr123 battery one

https://www.primaryarms.com/eotech-x...n-sight-xps3-0

Or get a Trijicon MRO (regular or "HD")

Or get one of the Aimpoint options.

Look up Youtube channel "Sage Dynamics" he does great reviews on anything he reviews. Many optic reviews he has done.

That's the helmet that I ordered. The nicer (more expensive) options would be something from either Opscore, Team Wendy, or MTEK.

I'll probably upgrade to an MTEK Flux ballistic helmet later on.

Otherwise, listen to what Nuggz said below

Ended up with IIIa steel plates. I honestly just wanted something to stop pistol threats, but soft armor lead time are stupid right now. A set of 4lb plates will be no big deal in a carrier.

After chit calms down a little I'll upgrade. At least these are multi-curve and should be concealable under a jacket.

Also saw that video of him trashing red dots on pistols "And if you carry a gun with a red dot on it. STOP IT"

I'm going back to G26 for EDC.
He’s always wasted. Pretty sure he’s an alcoholic haha. He just drinks and smokes meat all day. Living the life. What a badass.

I know he shoots irons. He’s old school like kyle Defoor and shoots all black irons.

I don’t know if it’s just because of the time those guys came through the military but I don’t know why some of those guys are such anti-red dot.

fuuk I missed a class he was teaching about 4 hours away. Would've drove and stayed in a hotel and scouted the area for some oriental lapjobs while I was at it.Imagine going to the class and getting yelled at from the same guy that used to humiliate TIM KENNEDY. fuuuk!

I am getting a KEEPERS CONCEALMENT CORNERSTONE for the Glocks. Suppose to be an AIWB rig only. If it works better than all the other **** on my larry vickers waistline I have I'll be a believer
