I think their laser power has variable intensity. Homelander heated milk with his eyes, gave Storm**** some slight pain, and can slice aluminum in half. The kid probably can't control his powers and fully unleashed them in a fit of anger/desperation.

How, after all the head explosions in the courtroom, Vought and all supe activity isn't put on serious lock down. Things just went back to normal? Like hey we have a star witness who's going to end their whole career but soon as he's about to speak his head explodes. Oh well I guess we can't do anything now, back to letting the supes run free.

Why didn't storm just smash Becca's head in. Takes 2 seconds. Why the whole dramatic choking scene and wasting time where something could easily go wrong. I hate when movies/shows do these unrealistic dramatic pauses. It was so obvious the kid was gonna stop her. IRL, Storm just got her reputation destroyed making her PISSED. She showed up to kill the fukkers who did this only to get a royal beat down by two of her team members and an Asian chick who she would hate because she's racist. After her beat down she finds Becca who is defying her. Becca even stabs her in the eye causing massive anguish. Why, oh WHY after all of that would Storm not immediately smash her head in blind rage?
stab to the eye is just a plot device to get her to attack Becca and force the kid to blast her. Also eyeballs are generally extremely weak compared to anywhere else so they used that, despite it prob not applying to supes with invulnerability (see eyeball bullet bounce off scene in one of the superman movies). And she got her ass whooped by the other girls cause they are super strong themselves, levels the playing field or something.

Kid is a natural born supe, could be that since he had compound V as a intrinsic part of his DNA from conception that it's way more powerful, thus making him the most powerful supe once he's grown and learned how to harness his powers.

Also remember Homelander warmed up that titty milk with his laser eyes so he can modulate the intensity, he probably was not going full blast on stormnazis chest and it's entirely possible we've never seen what his full power laser eyes look like yet

Storm even said that she likes to watch the light go out or w/e when she was choking Becca, wanted to make it drawn out and personal after losing an eye. IDk why you are assuming she has to smush her head immediately and anything else is invalid lol

Pretty sure the kid is the first naturally born Supe. Homelander raped Becca, and Ryan was born "naturally" with these powers. Thus, they're organically much more powerful, which is the entire reason they had him raised by his mother in an isolated community, lest he unintentionally murder someone when realizing the extent of his powers.

Solid final episode.

I was rather surprised Homelander is so easily blackmailed though. I thought he would just snap and fully lose control in such a situation, considering how unstable he is.

I was also surprised how tough Kimiko actually is. She certainely stood up to ********** quite well.

It looks dumb on TV though since the kid basically has to act awkward, barely show emotion and feel out of place in every shot.

Pretty much a perfect way to end a season.

- everyone acted in character (sad I have to point this out as a good thing but in 2020, it is. fuk you game of thrones)
- They wrapped up many storylines, opened up some new directions moving forward
- I won't spoil but a lot of characters got what was coming to them
- Great comedy, action and drama throughout

Just everything about it clicked and worked. I enjoyed S1 but this season has blown it out of the water, every episode was great and this wrapped up things really well.

Oh fuk, this is a spoiler thread, then whatever.

Yeah, the kids blew his load on his blast. So powerful it even killed his mother who wasn't even the target, clearly he went all out more than Homelander giving her titties a shine. Did anyone else think Homelander was raping her armless/legless body there at the end when he was jerking it on the tower before they panned out?

I know it's a plot device dummy. And that's why I find it offensive.
Not adding anything new here. If this was a thing, it should have been demonstrated before or explained in some way. That's my problem, they seemed to just be making up chit as they go along. Remember season 1 with translucent? They could have popped his eyes too? But no they couldn't right. Nobody even bothered threatening him with that. So if he is so strong and Storm clearly chits on translucent, how does a knife stab from a random Becca destroy her eye.
Kid is a natural born supe, could be that since he had compound V as a intrinsic part of his DNA from conception that it's way more powerful, thus making him the most powerful supe once he's grown and learned how to harness his powers.
It was cheesy. The whole hidden powers unleashed in a fit of rage. Yeah I don't care about this plot device either. A kid shouldn't be strong enough to utterly blow up storm like that. Even if he had the laser power to hurt her considerably, it shouldn't be so quick and sudden. That looked like she was in a fuking explosion. I know Homelander wasn't using his full blast on her, but it's reasonable to assume he wasn't warming titty milk either. He gave her a fuking reasonable shot. And she just stood there and Lol'd at him. That nuclear explosion the kid did was at least 20 times more powerful than Homelander's half a minute continuous blast.
it's entirely possible we've never seen what his full power laser eyes look like yet
Sure I never doubted this but I just don't like the inconsistency of the things in the settings of a show. Maeve stood still while a speeding truck crashed into her at full force. It was like a splash of water. That same Maeve had to use her full force to continuously kick and punch storm. Along with other supes. Storm survives even THAT. Suddenly storm gets her eyes popped like a balloon by a normal girl? Storm should even be fast enough to evade that, no problem. The eye stab thing was very inconsistent but again, was just used as a plot device for:
Storm even said that she likes to watch the light go out or w/e when she was choking Becca, wanted to make it drawn out and personal after losing an eye. IDk why you are assuming she has to smush her head immediately and anything else is invalid lol
You're making excuses now. I know what Storm said about wanting to see the life go out but I want you to picture the kind of person that Storm is and how many people she squashed like insects before because that's all humans are to her. You're telling me, after her whole world comes crashing down, after all that rage of being outed, after getting beat down by the people who destroyed her life, she makes it to the forest and finds Becca who stabs her eye. Knowing Kimiko, Starlight and Maeve are not far behind, and not thinking clearly because you're RAGING, HUMILIATED, INJURED.... You still have time for a classic Villain moment where you let the good guy live for way longer than they should, using the classic villain excuse of watching "the light disappear from their eyes" where the obvious rescue would happen at that time. I felt no tension at all in that stupid scene because I knew exactly how it would end.

In real life, a real Storm would have avoided the stab easily due to super human reflexes, smashed Becca against the tree, grabbed the kid and flew off. She wouldn't have wasted all that time begging the kid to come and giving the mother all that time to be saved.

I understand why Homelander didn't immediately punch through Butler and grabbed his kid. Because he wants his kid to think he's an awesome guy. But a battered and pissed off storm? She had no reason to negotiate and waste time.

Three possibilities:
1) The kid has the potential to surpass Homelander one day being the first naturally born supe.
2) Homelander still held back even after she told him to go harder.
3) The writers are just inconsistent.

Personally I'd go with 1), since it would make future storylines more important.

How deep of spoilers we going into here?

In the comics, Homelander was ultimately undone by a clone of himself, a character that Vaught had around as a contingency plan for Homelander if he went rogue (which he does in a big way). They aren't going that route for the show. My guess is, it's the kid, which is kind of sad because the comics version of this character was actually more of a lunatic and evil than Homelander.

I just painted out in my wall of text how storm acted extremely out of character in the climax of the finale.

I felt like the didn't wrap up many storylines at all. Especially the big court thing that was just dropped and forgotten about. Or Maeve and her gf. Or how quickly she just changed her mind and decided to help the boys in the end. Lol wut? Starlights speech barely looked effective. I needed to see something more there. The character developments in this season were weak.

They clearly needed more episodes. Did the actual boys do anything this season. What about this last episode? They didn't do any cool plans or had cool moments. The finale was all about the good female supes beating up the bad one. Then the good female supe getting Homelander to stand down. Butler would have been fuking toast if it wasn't for Maeve.

Season 1 chit on Season 2 so hard. I can't believe you and I watched the same show lol.

Homelander obviously tweaked the power of his laser to match Storm's regen capacity. If you look to Cyclops back in X-men, he had a similar issue - his ocular blast was way stronger before he trained it and then used it with the visor.

Having said that - the stabbing in the eye was an f'n joke - in shows these days they are always trying to make 'normies' heroes in their own right, like when you see a womanlet in a fighting movie hit some big baddy over the head with a pot while the hero struggles to get back to his/her feet. If bullets can't penetrate her skin, that a knife could penetrate her eye makes no sense. It was a ridiculous way for storm to bite it.

Also, that the ocular blast was 'just unfocused enough' to obliterate storm, and only cut the neck that way? It just doesn't make sense.

Also, did not see the head explosion reveal coming to be honest.

I'm going with 1 but also mostly 3.

Sure I could be on board with the kid having the potential to surpass Homelander someday. But he's still a 10 year old kid who can't use his powers. Even if the kid has a ton of potential i could see him using a blast to knock stom on her ass. Sure. But COMPLETE bodily annihilation of one of the strongest supes? Give me a break that power level is way outta whack

You realize what garbage super hero shows are after watching an HBO series like Carnivale with good writing, interesting and complex characters, and great acting. Might not even bother with season 3

Agree to disagree, I think your points aren't meritless and it's not that I don't see them, I just didn't get the same stuff when I watched it.

Oh and with the eye stabbing -- I think it was mostly done as a call back to the comics, in that he (Stormlander, a male in the comics) gets his eye poked out by the Woman I believe. I do think they used it to give her (back to the show version) the motivation to want to murder Becca, because otherwise she was far too smart and wouldn't have lost her cool and given the kid a reason to blast her. Eyes tend to be a weak spot, even on most superheroes, but I suppose they could have taken a quick moment to have the Frechman slip her the knife one she committed to going and dropping a quick line about it being specially engineered to puncture almost anything or something.

I got a huge kick out of the beginning with them gathering all their weapons each with special contingency plans or designed to take out specific heroes, from the preview it made it seem like they were just running in blind with big guns (and doomed to fail).

As I said. I am fine with let's say Storm being angry enough that she didn't see the kid charging up and doing a simple dodge. And storm getting knocked on her ass. But getting utterly annihilated by it after she shows a resistance to lasers previously. It's just bad writing.

When Homelander lasered storm in that opening blast, he was pissed at her. He was literally like "fuk u ho" and was going to split her in two. He seemed surprised it didnt kill her and that's when he got turned on by her strength and went to pound town.

Just reading through your posts and honestly, you take this stuff WAYYY too seriously.

It's a fictional show man, they aren't supposed to make perfect sense. "Oh, why didn't this person react this way, blah blah blah"

I'm guessing you had thousands of criticisms for the LOTR movies lol, not gonna even mention GOT because that one is too obvious

BTW, Starlight CONFIRMED low tier. She's not much stronger than asian and obviously weaker than Maeve

Explain how they forgot about the courtroom incident?
Its like real life, an unexplained incident happened and an over the top reaction results - see the commercial in every school etc

I don't think she has any superhuman reflexes nor is she a particularily skilled fighter. She certainely failed to keep up with Kimiko in that regard.

Considering the movie was relatively recent back then and Homelander is a Superman clone, it could have been Garth Ennis making fun of this scene.

I assumed her neck wound was from stormnazi's hand during the blast, like she instinctively tensed up as the blast hit her and then as she/her arm got torn away it caught Becca's artery and goodnight sweet hbb

Just finished the season finale, goddamn, fukin diabolical.

Also apparently Amazon just got OK with the final scene

"There was ONE SCENE that Amazon said **** NO, you have to cut," Kripke wrote when asked what s
cene was cut that he wish had stayed in. "I couldn't quite understand why considering everything else we have in the show, but: Homelander, after being dressed down by Stilwell in episode 2, was standing on one of the Chrysler building Eagles. He pulled his pants down and started jerking off, mumbling 'I can do whatever I want' over and over again until he climaxed all over New York City. We shot it! Oh my God, Anthony was the BEST in that scene. Amazon seemed to think it wasn't necessary. I thought it told me something about his psyche. To be clear, they've been great, that may have been the ONLY fight I lost in Season 1."

I kinda felt bad for Homelander at the end. He was so happy to have a relationship with his kid, kinda fked up to take the kid away like that. Not like he ever taught the kid anything really bad, and he clearly was weirded out by St0rmfront's Nazi talk.

Did NOT understand the scene at the end at all. The guy who runs the church looked like he was a major protagonist for Season 3 coming up and then just gets offed in a heartbeat? Made zero sense to me. So what was the whole point of having the church in the first place?

Seemed to me like they wrapped up almost too much. Like they weren't expecting a Season 3 and culled off all the major story lines so that they could start fresh but then left just enough hanging to frustrate me that I don't see where it's going. And no cliffhanger at all.

Anyone else think to themselves that the whole girl beatdown thing was written just to appease the feminist crowd as well. Couldn't have a guy beating on a woman.

I'm guessing you had thousands of criticisms for the LOTR movies lol, not gonna even mention GOT because that one is too obvious

BTW, Starlight CONFIRMED low tier. She's not much stronger than asian and obviously weaker than Maeve
This is what I hate about casuals who don't understand much about media. Just because it's a fictional world doesn't mean it has to be haphazard and all over the place. That is not an excuse. It doesn't need to be 100% spot on, but it also doesn't need to have such massive swings in internal dynamics. That sorta chit totally strips moments of their tension: "It's a fictional world, anything can happen, just turn your brain off and stop wanting some consistency"

Das lame bro.

Also: LOTR movies are my GOAT. I have all three in HD on my phone and watch them all the time.
Also, GoT was my GOAT TV show of all time and I couldn't shut up about it until they botched the final couple seasons. Did the good seasons have consistency flaws? Yes. But they were nowhere as glaring as The Boys. Even with powers, the dynamics of the world made sense.

Lol'd at unexplained incident.

Imagine if it was real life with real people who had super abilities. We have the court case of the century to determine if these people should be allowed to 1. Make chitloads of money and 2. Be allowed to operate independently of governments, do whatever they please and handle crime situations in their own hands. There have been many cases of collateral damage and loss of accountability SHOWN already. Supes are extremely messy. So in real life this case would have been taken extremely seriously. Now imagine, a star witness is about to come in to blow the whole door open on Vault and at best, disband them and have all their assets taken. There is massive motivation by the supes to not have this person testify.

Suddenly, soon as he opens his mouth to blow the lid, his head explodes. Clearly done by someone with powers. If anything, prosecution and judges should be fukking FURIOUS of that kind of a chit show and at that point, in real life I'm 100% all super hero powers would be instantly banned. In real life a judge would never take Vought's word that "hehe it ain't me brah I have no reason to ruin the case hehe"

I would have loved to see a realistic situation where Vought was banned and the supes had to go underground.

Well taking a kid from his mother tends to end badly. Homelander could have had a relationship with the kid, he fukked up

This show is bad at keeping up story arcs. The writing isn't all that good

So what's the deal with the exploding heads lady? I went back and watched episode 7 to see the courtroom scene, to see how this lady was represented in that scene, and in the scene she's basically running away, her eyes aren't changing like they did on the final epi, and she isn't really focusing on making peoples heads explode at all she's just basically running away.

Anyone??
