I see it as first degree murder. The guy with the gun tried to take away the protestor's mace initially.

Personally I don't see the appeal of 300 blk for anyone who likes to shoot. If you have the money go for it.

Mag release is nice and all, but again, I can engage that with pretty much any body part easily as well. Try practicing things like that and it's much easier than you'd think, and it becomes pretty second nature; keep one hand in your pocket and practice manipulations to get used to it.
Parts availability would be my biggest concern, and more places things can break.

I have 2 Anderson lowers that have been great even, one is 4 years old and around 4k rounds through it and no issues at all; pretty much any mil spec (IMO) is going to be the same assuming it's from a larger manufacturer.

$200 extra on new peripherals already for that gun... probably drop another $100 later on then I'll be done. Going to be bad ass, and another gun on my 'want' list crossed off.
Related to that, decided I don't plan to get a Ruger Precision, been shooting the Savage a lot at distance around 400 yards and while fun enough, just not my thing; much further than that doesn't really interest me. Not into taking the long calculated shots, but glad I got the Savage to see if I like it before dumping a lot on a Ruger, and it is still fun at medium ranges.

I have no idea WTF you guys are talking about and kind of like it that way right now.
So, with that said, just generalities...pepper spray is non lethal 100%, and the use of pepper spray in and of itself in no way justifies a lethal force response, RE: two private citizens. Also, trying to take somebody's gun generally represents and justifies lethal force. Also also, you generally cannot claim self defense if you took any part in instigating or furthering the altercation.
In real life, fairly often, it may not even be a "this person justified, this person criminal" scenario, it is always possible for both parties to be legally in the wrong.
Totality of the circumstances.
And, avoidance always wins

I mean . . . someone has the full video of everything that happened there, since the various photos are out. I assume the photos come from video or that at least there are more pictures if not.
Another local news station is reporting that the shooter wasn't (and never has been) licensed as a security guard, which is required in Denver.

DENVER — Records show the man being held for investigation in the deadly shooting near dueling demonstrators in Denver on Saturday was working as a security guard but was not properly licensed, 9Wants to Know has learned.
Matthew Dolloff, 30, was contracted through the company Pinkerton by 9NEWS. It has been the practice of 9NEWS for a number of months to contract private security to accompany staff at protests.
Pinkerton, however, said it does not actually employ Dolloff – Pinkerton did not share the name of the company for which Dolloff worked.
