It's not rocket science. It doesn't matter what the rest of the population does.
It's already discovered how to get in shape, how to lose weight, how to get a desired body etc.
Just because the majority of people decide to do the opposite of what they should do, doesn't mean that therefore the way to do it right suddenly became invalid.
If everyone followed a strict diet and exercised and miraculously still got fat, then you have a valid concern. That however, is not the case.

of course, this doesnt absolve the public from doing the right things i.e. eating the right diet and exercising but it certainly makes seeking a healthier lifestyle hard mode. Japan is a good example of mass produced foods and snacks that arent trash and i'd like to see food producers switch to a model similar to this.
In the meantime, yes, people will need to take the time to research quality foods and proper exercise or just pay someone to tell them what to do but considering how lazy americans are i wont hold my breath

Yeah it's really difficult to put 100 grams of pasta on a food scale and then cook it... And then spending 10 seconds to log it on myfitness pal. Such autism!
You refuse to spend 2 minutes a day counting calories. The fact that you're so adamant on not counting calories is a joke.
If you are too lazy for it, or don't care about your gains. So be it. But don't bash it.
You've never counted calories before. You have no idea what difference it makes. Otherwise you would've been a lot more shredded and your physique would've looked a lot better.
But whatever. People like you will always exist. People who are too dense and stuck in their own way. Then do you. It's your body.

It's a theory I heard before and maybe you have too. I came across the pro-Paleo blog (Mark's Daily Apple) way back which went big on PUFAs and the Omega 3/Omega 6 imbalance in the Standard American Diet.
Then I caught a JRE interview over the weekend with a pro-carnivore diet guy. I'm not a "one true path" kind of gal, nor do I buy into whatever the latest fad is, mainly because BTDT.
His info on vegetable oils seems strong though. He shared graphics re:consumption rates of vegetable oils in relation to rising obesity rates. Pointed out that other dietary components have remained flat (eggs, dairy, red meat, grains) or trended downward (sugars) while vegetable oil consumption has continued upward.

Soybean Oil- they charge for a labeled graph:

Canola Oil- same, $$:

Obesity trend:

Why does it matter which particular food is making people fatter? Dr. Saladino claims that vegetable oil cause fat cells to become larger vs. multiply until these bloated fat cells break open and this creates inflammation in the body (aka Metabolic Syndrome).
Metabolic Syndrome prevalence in the US is estimated at about 33% and is correlated with increased mortality.

Caveats: correlation|causation, multifactorial condition, epidemiology, etc.

What i can tell you is that i cook all my own food.
And when i cooked my own food and simply guessed the amount i was eating like you're doing, i saw mediocre results.
When i started being strict and counted calories, the differences were insane. People started asking if i was on juice in the gym.
Got a six pack, shredded body, daily compliments.
So what does that tell you? It tells you that when someone has the exact same diet. Whether that includes PUFA's or not.
That counting calories works. But you wouldn't know anything about that because herp derp counting calories is austistic and i'll never do it.

I think having calorie counts at chain restaurants is a good start. Overall simpler food labeling would be great. What percentage of the US population can easily understand grams of sugar or fat? Tsp and maybe pats of butter could work better- like a little spoon shape symbol with6on the front of the package instead of a teeny24 gon the back.

Explain this, prior to puberty - boys and girls are roughly the same body type. Roughly same size, body composition is not that diverse. Suddenly, boys and girls hit puberty. Boys gain muscle mass and overall much more body mass. Girls gain fat all over their bodies in very specific areas. Darn those calories! Why do girls just start eating more during puberty and stop working out where boys all eat more and all begin a intense muscle-building workout program! I love Mark's Daily Apple! Was an avid follower for years.
No, I don't think it's just one thing that made people obese, but a combo of things.
Terrible processed foods combined with a convenience lifestyle afforded to us by evolving technology meant people didn't have to work as hard to eat. Or eat well.

The really bad part is since you need lots of soy to feed livestock as opposed to humans you need HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE amounts of land to cultivate said toxic monsanto soy. IT's also an intensive thirsty monocrop so you get all sorts of massive soil degradation and environmental issues when planting soy. It's one of the kuntiest crops to grow.
The whole myth of the "soy" and the liberal twinks is just a myth. Soy milk tastes like chit and I doubt the average soycuck even eats soy the percentage of said cucks that eat soylent is really tiny

Hey, tell me what happens when a Type 1 diabetic stops eating carbs and replaces those with fat?You said they would gain weight quickly. Is that how it works?
Here, throughout history and before insulin was discovered in the 1920s, people just wasted away and died very close to 100% of the time (and, we assume that fraction who had diabetes who do not die from it got kicked by a mule or had a piano fall on them first). Wish you'd been around to tell them to just eat more. Think of the lives that would be saved. In fact, even here in 2020, all these Type 1 diabetics are stupidly injecting themselves with Insulin when all they need to do is listen to this CICO is *Everything-Be-All-End-All-ONLY-factor* advice and eat more. Instead these morons apparently all stop eating and waste away and die. Why are they all so stupid? Why do they stop all eating and die?

Fast food, processed foods, etc are making us fat. Basically food that was "created" in a lab/factory.

Eating too much and exercising too little.
Being fit is a life long endeavor. You can't just do it for 5 years, 10, or more then stop; it has to be constant. This requires effort and discipline so naturally most people are ditch pigs looking for a scientific scapegoat.
It really is simple for 95% of the world, just don't be fat. Stop fatting.

What happens in the human body that causes these calories to get stored as energy in the form of adipose tissue. Is it mystic in nature? Do tiny fairies who live inside our stomachs perform a magical dance that turns the calories into goblins that they then engage in combat with and defeat and then send them to Goblin purgatory, which is them stored as fat? Is that how it works... OR is there another way in which humans store fat?
Hey, tell me what happens when a Type 1 diabetic stops eating carbs and replaces those with fat?
You said they would gain weight quickly.

Let me ask like I would a child: How does an excess calorie get turned into fat by the body? How does that work? What happens inside your body that takes those excess calories and then stores that energy as fat?
(And: for the record I am not a proponent of a Keto diet or a carnivore diet; they're just there. Some people might like them. Completely unnecessary at least in terms of losing fat; if a carnivore advocate wants to tell me it helps them with food allergies or something, I won't dispute it as that's way beyond my wheelhouse)

Yes vegetable oils do have a negative effect and are something we can actually point to being poisonous to our health. Look it up. I think even Stan Efferding talked about this.
All these restaurants use them too. They get the cheapest oils they can in bulk. I only cook with pure extra virgin olive oil (from a company that has been tested to actually use real olive oil and not fillers falsely advertised). I have sometimes used coconut oil too.
It's just one of many little things that have continuously added up over time to create a fat society. It's never really just one thing. You can't put the blame on just this.
Vegetable oils, over-consumption, synthetic food, high sodium food, not exercising, etc. It all adds up.
This is why we should all really start to look to cooking our own food a majority of the time. Also start growing our own food. Get things as raw and untouched as possible.
I'm going to make a thread next week on some stuff I've been doing that a lot of people can do in terms of this.

Former Carnivore gone full Vegetarian/Low Sodium due to GI/Acid Reflux issues for the time being.
I've never felt better or been better shape. Still having GI problems but almost 80% less than when I was eating meat. It was a hard switch but most of my protein is soy/plant protein. Tofu, beans, plant based protein shakes. 1 liter of water a day minimum with electrolyte powder thrown in.
Rice/bread is a killer. I noticed I gained fat on, I use Quinoa instead. Braggs Aminos Acid Soy sauce with tofu and no-salt-spices with quinoa is my every day dinner. Apples and fruits for snacks or munchie foods. Organic Raw fruits/Vegetables.
Sodium is also a big issue and can store a lot of water weight.
Also life insurance underwriter checking CICO is great when you're younger but I noticed that a lot of my clients who do that naturally (ex: two burgers/Chicken fried steak or just small portioned cabs all day and a snack here and there 5'10 160-170lb male 50s) are diabetic or pre-diabetic.

If anyone is wondering wtf I've been talking back and forth about with immune18, this is a 10 minute very basic discussion of it from a respected source, Dr. Jason Fung.

Everyone is different when it comes to foods. I recently took a food allergy test, grains and corn were on the list, but also odd things like turkey and brussel sprouts. What works for one person isn't necessarily going to work for another.
On that last point, absolutely, and this points out a whole lot. I love seeing some fit kid in his 20s talking about how all it takes is CICO, just calories -- as if that means fuk all to some middle aged guy in his 40s with metabolic damage and a broken metabolism. Then you ask them a simple question, like what Insulin is, and they spurge out and attack you, suggest you googled it 10 minutes earlier, etc -- rather than just admit they aren't familiar with it.
