How tf do people grind out heavy deadlifts

Once the weight slows down around my knees, there's no way I can keep pushing

Here's a 485 pull, EZ

505 right after ;_;

Well your body is a system. Inability to grind out weights are usually a small breakdown in part of that system. As said above it could be a weakness such as the glutes, or it could be overactive muscles and underactive muscles not firing in sync. There's a reason guys always yell "hips" in that position. You have to mentally remind yourself to really drive the hips through while also pulling once it is past the knees.

You'll be okay brah.

It’s a mindset/temperament thing. If you are a technically minded lifter who is being very careful not to have any degree of lumbar flexion during the pull and are very aware of the difficulty of the lift as you are pulling, then you are going to be at a disadvantage against someone who has the “smash fkin weights” attitude and is only concerned with locking it out no matter what happens.

I don't see how grinding out a deadlift rep is going to do you any good. It doesn't matter so don't worry about it.

Try breaking the training down into rack pulls and halting deadlifts - both can be trained with weights that are significantly heavier than you can deadlift. Depending on your particular physiology one might end up being much heavier than the other, but the combined effect will help you to get past sticking points like you're experiencing.

Also myron dat grip. Can't tell if double overhand or hookgrip but decent either way. Your shoulders will thank you in your old age for not fukking around with alternate grip.

I hurt my glute med in 2018, pretty sure it was from mixed grip deads without ever switching hands. Now just stick to hook grip

My sincere apologies.

OP, please disregard my previous advice as it has been established beyond reasonable doubt that it is highly inaccurate, and possibly even a bit dangerous.

ive heard mixed grip deadlifts can lead to injury but ive never had a problem with it. but i always alternate my grip on every set.

just did pretty high volume adding 5lbs to each set every week, it looked something like:

day 1

conventional: top set 10 reps max effort, 2nd set 5 reps rpe 9-10, 3rd set 6 reps rpe 9-10

day 2: rdl's top set 8-9 reps max effort, 2 back down sets

3 sets of pendlay rows and 3 sets of barbell rows each day, 8-9 rep sets on 1 day 10-12 on the other

granted thats the most consistent ive been in ages so that def helped and i couldnt squat so the volume was manageable. added like 10lbs bw (145 shredded-155 or some ****) and my 10 rep top set went from 330 or 335 to 405 at the end

I remember reading that switching to heavy rack pulls could help you with the second half of the lift and lockout. I always really liked rack pulls, without straps too to work on grip.

Those are some pretty strong deadlifts, though, OP. You should be really proud of that already.
