night shift sucks in some ways...

woke up at 4pm today. felt like the half the day had already passed.....cus it had. but it's just beginning for me.

ran some errands, got a lil sunlight.

got ready for work at 10pm. find out work is canceled at 11pm.

cannot go to sleep. wide awake. and can't do chit. everything closed. everyone in my house is asleep. it's also cold af tonight so can't work out in garage or even go for a walk.

brb misc, watch a show, or read and waste the night away.

Been using a space heater for the last few weeks when the weather was around 10C/50F but now that it's gotten colder i can't do it. I leave the heater on for an hr before working out and the garage is still a lil cold. Feels fukked up working out when you're not warm.

I'm going to the gym from tmrw, still have my membership but haven't been since covid got serious in March.

I love night shift. But I work as a cop, so nights are definitely more exciting than days in this job. On my nights off when I'm up late, I use that time to watch movies or TV shows that my wife won't watch with me. Or play video games without my kids interrupting me.
People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually, from a nonlinear, nonsubjective viewpoint, it's more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey stuff.

Not really burnt out, been doing it for about 10 years, so after that long it just kinda feels normal for me. Also, I don't really have any friends. Sometimes I hang out with other officers I work with, who also work night shift so it works out

night shift was great last year especially during the summer.

everyone's chilling on site. usually not much oversight.
some stores are open if you want to grab food.
go to the gym after work. empty af.
wake up at 12-2pm, finish all your errands and chores. still have hours of sun to enjoy.

but covid changed all that. now all the "24" hr gyms are 5am-11pm at most.

15 years of nights for me. Worst part is flip flopping my schedule to spend my days off with the wife and kids. Work week is fine because I'm asleep when they're at school and at work when they're asleep. Silver lining is we work 4 10s. Tonight is my Friday so I'll go home in the morning, sleep until around noon, then spend the evening with them and still have 2 more days off

Never worked nightshift before, but the 24hr gyms closing early is the worst. rip 2 am gym sessions
