Like anything else in this world, the goal is always money. Money is attached to ratings in this case, so whenever they start to drop, people get chitcanned.

So I see this as a semi win for conservatives. Apparently liberals consoom dumbchit low IQ comedy programs like SNL at far higher rates than conservatives.

SNL is still a dream gig for the top 1% of comedy writers, so imagine being forced to write "lol orange man so bad" chit tier comedy every day for years.

All of comedy is in the ****ter unfortunately. People used to spend months or years crafting and working on jokes, now you gotta come out with material instantly. Which means it has to be topical, which means it has to be political since that’s the only thing we’re talking about these days.

And obviously if you don’t say the right thing, your cancelled. So it’s pretty easy to see why comedy is dead right now

We pretty much need a natural changing of the times (IE a PC Backlash) and combine that with a new Lenny Bruce to bring comedy back

It takes far more talent to write comedy that supports the conservative viewpoint than it does to bash it, the path of least resistance as electricians say.

SNL is trash

whatever NYC audience they are attracting is trash too.

Bill Burr and Chappelle were both on it recently and it was garbage, their audience was chit and just hoping for them to chit on Trump. That is all the audience even wants to hear is Trump "jokes". Just give them that baldwin reject every show and cancel the guest spot, why bother with high caliber comedians.

At this point almost anything involving comedy on mainstream media is "LOL white people am I right?" and I can't get on board with only making fun of one race. To me that's obvious racism being pushed and I can't stand for that.

all comedy shows on tv have been politically weaponized since 2016, or atleast it's been more apparent

It's always been pretty hit or miss, even in the golden years. But now it definitely seems more politically self-righteous.

MadTV was better. Mr Show was in another league. Chapelle's Show, Key & Peele, Monty Python, Kids in the Hall...most sketch shows are better than SNL. SNL's biggest claim can be longevity, and the sheer amount of comedians and movies it has launched.

It's no different than watching CNN or Netflix or any other biased media, but yes it's definitely propaganda that is used to reinforce a certain ideas.
