Driving a manual increases your level of focus and attention and reduces the risk of accident due to absentmindedness.

Driving automatic increases mechanical wear.

So beyond being more fun, it's safer and cheaper.

Manuals are simpler having less moving parts and should be more reliable over the life of a car

Keeps you more focused on driving and the road.
Even a cheap box is fun to drive with a manual. I drive a 2008 WV sedan.
FEELS more connected to the engine. When I drive auto I feel like I'm in a bus.

Only downside for me is uphill traffic. Holy **** uphill traffic can be scary. When I get a new car hill assist is a must!

I always heard it was advantageous to drive a manual where there's lots of snow and that you might be able to get unstuck easier with a manual. I have no evidence for this, though. Only hearsay at this point.

This always seemed terrifying. Whenever there was a dad or teacher with his son/student in front of me on a steep hill and I can tell he was learning the manual, my blood pressure would go up behind him. My poor front bumper.

Oh yeah. I also got an old suspension, so I feel the entire weight of the car moving backwards even when I break and start perfectly.
****ty drivers with manual cars are kind of an annoyance huh?
brb car going backwards because ****ty uphill start

The first manual car I ever tried driving was this old school 1981 chevy malibu with the shift stick on the floor, 3 speeds. It was pretty intense. I was 15. My uncle let me try it out on a quiet street. I sucked.
