Mirin. I will be a good immigrant to your country if I move there. Split seems like a decent city and Hvar, vis and Brac are beautiful. I remember taking the boat to Vis. Such a cozy little island with friendly people. Croatia also allegdely has the highest average IQ in balkan, which is a plus to me. I think I could pass as a croatian, brown hair and dark blue/green yes.

I live in UK and am looking to invest in Slovenia, Montenegro, Croatia or maybe even Malta.

As the world goes online more and you can work from your laptop, there's literally no reason not to want to live in these beautiful mountainous sunny countries. All my friends want to live in a tiny ass condo/apartment in the city and wagecuck for 50k/year in depressing countries.

Meanwhile I want to go to some cheap (somewhat safe) balkan country and live in the sun with my laptop, with brb one of the best investments you can make.

The world goes in cycles, right now all the hypes about USA/UK/Canada/Nordic countries, but over time the world shifts and new hotspots open up. The trick is to be the first mover and early. Look at every 3rd world immigrant, they all want these high tier western countries, none of them want the balkans.

Wouldn't be surprised if southeastern Europe really booms in the next 20-30 years, especially on the coast.

Also OP it's weird because you're the only other person I've ever met that wants to migrate to these countries, most people want to migrate out of them lol.

This guy gets it^^. There is only so much property across the balkan coast, and right now it´s cheap. It´s an up and coming spot, and dare I say, undervalued. You don´t move to where everyone else moves, you gotta predict future trends. Thats my expertice. Sure, everything can happen. It can be a good investment, but most importantly a good life quality upgrade.

Just lol at big citycels that are cramped up in overpopulated, overvalued chitholes. Balkan is in general very underpopulated, compared to lets say Netherlands. To me, most of the balkan coast seems to have the ideal climate. Plenty of sun, but not too hot. There are seasons. That coastline is also extremely beautiful.

Malta is also nice (been there). But it lacks mountains, and there is a downside to living on an island. Canaray islands are also very nice, would reccomend Tenerife. But it´s a little isolated, and yet again an island filled with tourists. And there is a thing such as island fever.


Spain has long been the king in where europeans move to for warmer climates. It´s nice there, but I think it´s past it´s peak. Spain could be awesome tho, but wouldn´t move to any of the toursit spots, which are basically all along the coast. Balkan is more lowkey and underpopulated than Spain. Malta is a little too small for me. When I was there I didn´t really see a place I would like to settle down long term.

Croatia is incredible. The water in the Adriatic was the bluest/purest water I have ever seen. Absolutely beautiful country... some of GoT was filmed there. Our bartender was like trilingual... he said he highly recommends traveling to Malta as well. Never did though. Croatia has a huge party beach called Zrce that's a pretty well known getaway for Europeans... not so much Americans. Up there with Ibiza... clubs right on the beach, some literally on a dock on the sea. One club had a foam party every night. 10/10 experience srs.

The only thing I didn't like about the former Yugoslavia is the amount of expats and foreigners hanging out there because it's basically cheap Italy.

I spent some time in the Baltic states (Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia) as well, and it's basically the same thing. None of the locals really want to hang out with you because there are tons of *******y tourists searching for an "authentic" experience.

To me, this is the biggest advantage of Montenegro-- not even that many tourists make it there, let alone people looking to live long term.

Yall really did Bosnia dirty when you drew up the borders. Barely any coastline. If I move to Croatia, do I risk the possibility of angry bosnians invading because they want more coastline?

Mirin location hard. I was in Brac for a few hours before the boat to Hvar, but that was many years ago. I have a question. I´m looking at property one hour away time from Split. Do you recommend south east of split or noth west of Split. I´m currently looking around Omis and Makarska. Is that a nice area? I´m also looking at Montenegro, nice that they legalize the green.

I don´t have to be right by th ocean, a little inland would be fine as well.

Just need to know if there is good ass there tho

If it were me, I'd rather go to the south east of Split (Omis, Makarska, or anywhere in between). Not a fan of the Kastela towns and that area.

But, you can't go wrong really, it's all pretty close together, especially if you're working remotely it's not a big deal.

Ok, thanks a lot. I will look into that. I don´t have much of a plan yet, so it´s still pretty far in to the future, but first step is finding a few locations to choose from. I dream of having a small farm property somewhere tho

Montenegro is a different ballgame, much smaller country, not in the EU(but uses euro), etc.. Still very pretty, but Croatia is a better choice. (i'm biased, i know)

Yeah, and I guess fewer people speak english in Montenegro. I would of course learn the language where I move, but it would take time. Croatia seems more developed and scores higher on average iq as well lol. And croatia don´t have that weird cyrillic language.

Our country has been split in two since gaining independence. We're finally buidling a bridge to connect the two parts.

The quality of sloots here is good. A lot of them are a bit traditional so won't jump in the bed immediately, but you can find the slootiest ones fast enough if you have money.
