Whatcha know about tools?
For peeps that don't live on misc I'm living in a house that I inherited from my mom; has a mortgage still, high taxes, and needs work.
Feels like selling is the right move, but also don't have a place to go if I manage that. Could sell as is/investor types and I've wondered if that would be a wash when you factor in fees and cost of repairs.
Most recently working on a low cost cosmetic fix (cleaning, paint, light fixtures). The kitchen will be the biggest project. Cabinets are original builder grade that a prior owner added ugly pulls to and coated with latex paint that wasn't done right and looks like hell. Laminate counters are dated and one by the sink is in bad condition. The cabinets are a type that don't have to have pulls so my plan is to strip/sand/paint, try putting new laminate on the counters, and need a new faucet. Blah.
I have a decent stock of hand tools, but no power tools of my own since my divorce. Ryobi seems to be well regarded and isn't as expensive as Dewalt. At least need a drill/driver. Not sure if brushless is that important/worth it?
This set is $$$, but includes a lot of stuff. Not sure if it is good start, or if I should just add as needed. Doesn't have miter/angle/table saw which could be nice for tile/molding if I get that far.

Oh, and I've done a good amount of reno, but usually power tools/plumbing I've had help with from my grandpa, dad, or FIL, which isn't an option now. I've done a lot of cleaning/paint/planning/shopping/yard work and a little electrical.

ryobi is ok. it will prob get the job done but it's known as a less expensive brand
milwaukee, dewalt, makita are prob the best trade tools. festool some fancy german chit, which is the opposite; prob more expensive than quality

Only thing that matters is battery life and warranty length (not some bs extended you have to buy. )

Depending on if OP is a sloot and caused the divorce is a big factor on if i agreee with you or not. If she is a. Sloot who slooted on her hubby then yes. Karma is a bitcch and its very real

First and foremost you should stay in the kitchen.
Second, the name on the tool isn't always indicative of the quality...name brand stuff at a big box store won't be the same as the same brand at a contractor supply outlet.
Beyond that, if you didn't already know that, you might as well go buy a little tikes builder set at Toys r Us and call it a day.

as for tools its ideal to buy the best quality because theyl last forever.
also, you probably already know this but youtube has a huge amount of informational videos about pretty much anything you could want, so you can learn how to do specific projects the right way. i did this for faucets and replaced mine, thats actually easy to do.

Unfortunately,even Dewalt comprises on their kits if you look close . Your not getting their top of the line tools .

If its something you use a lot buy the higher quality.
Also depends on the tool. Say something like wire strippers, the cheapo ones are chit and wont work right. But something like a mallot, why would i buy a luxury mallot, its pretty simple right.
also would rather have wired for everything except battery powered drills are obviously very convenient. But if you want some tools for life that you will only use every 5 years, prob better its wired. I dont see the reason to have battery powered saws, those are for tradies that use them every day and have back up wired saws too. BRB in 10 years trying to find a battery online for your discontinued saw, that is too much hassle.

Let's be real here. If you're going to buy tools and use them (which you're not) you might aswell buy cheap ass tools from harborfrieght buying quality power tools will run you a pretty penny and if you do use them then they will never get touched again LMAO

I actually hanged some window blinds the other day and the Ryobi Drill/Driver set for $99 (with 2 battery packs and a charger) helped me get it done.

That kit isn't a good one per say, but it is a good price for it.
Id also throw out that tool rental is very cheap. So the few jobs you're going to need a saw for, rent one for $15. Invest in higher quality batteries for things such as impacts and drivers.

Big user of Ryobi, solid brand for home owners and their battery system it second to none. Get a supercharger if you go all in on the One Plus 18v line.

I have all Ryobi stuff and a 6 battery charger.
They were great for everything I do from house repairs to working on cars.
have used them for over 19years and they still work with the newer batteries.
A professional would have a different opinion.
I am asking for more of them for Xmas.
