Here is an article that references a couple of studies:

In the first study, researchers at Harvard and the University of Pennsylvania compared COVID-19–related death rates in the United States through Sep 19 with those in 18 other countries with populations exceeding 5 million and at least $25,000 per capita gross domestic product. They also compared rates of death from any cause for 14 countries with available data through Jul 25.

The patterns for COVID-19 deaths and excess all-cause deaths were similar in the 14 countries with available all-cause death rates. Countries with a moderate coronavirus death rate saw only slight increases in deaths from any cause, but those with high coronavirus death rates also saw high excess all-cause death rates (for example, 0.1% in Spain and 0.07% in the United States). But since May 10, the United States has had the highest all-cause death rate of all high-mortality countries.

In the second study, researchers at Virginia Commonwealth University and Yale analyzed population data and COVID-19 and all-cause death data for 48 US states and Washington, DC, from the National Center for Health Statistics and the US Census Bureau.

From Mar 1 to Aug 1, 1,336,561 people died in the United states, 225,530 (20%) more than the 1,111,031 deaths that would have been expected based on historic data. Of the 225,530 excess deaths, 150,541 (67%) were attributed to the coronavirus.

The study was an update of an analysis of excess deaths during March and April, published in JAMA on Jul 1, that found that 65% of excess deaths during that time were attributed to COVID-19 and that deaths from non-coronavirus causes such as Alzheimer's disease, diabetes, and heart disease jumped in the five states with the most COVID-19 deaths.

"Excess deaths attributed to causes other than COVID-19 could reflect deaths from unrecognized or undocumented infection with [COVID-19] or deaths among uninfected patients resulting from disruptions produced by the pandemic," the authors wrote.

In another editorial in the same journal, JAMA Editor-in-Chief Howard Bauchner, MD, and Executive Editor Phil Fontanarosa, MD, MBA, said that the second study results suggest that more than 400,000 excess deaths will have occurred by the end of 2020, the importance of which "cannot be overstated, because it accounts for what could be declines in some causes of death, like motor vehicle crashes, but increases in others, like myocardial infarction."

When I posted this up this morning I could swear there were two different "fake/hoax" threads on the front page and quite a few saying "fake" ITT.

I'm not panicked about it. Living my life as normally as possible under the circumstances.

And I'm not in favor of increased government controls. If you think that then you haven't paid my posting history much attention.

In the past two weeks or so I've:

- visited the Japanese garden
- been to a small distillery/restaurant
- made multiple trips to hardware & paint stores
- went to the Dallas Museum of Art
- ate at El Chico
- strolled the Christmas displays at the arboretum
- been to the regular mall and an outlet mall
- been inside an airport twice

More than my usual amount of outings I admit.

I believe women are the biggest threat to freedom in the world for the reasons you mentioned.

Many women will get into any fad promoted that's about "health" or "virtue" and they will viciously defend it and the dump it for the next fad.

Males to to stand no chance against them due to the absolute nature of female thinking.

They have next to no insight, poor memories, huge denial, and if you want to force perversion on the population or giving up rights, you target females to make good things seem selfish or naughty. Since women control the lives of nearly all males, males will not directly confront or overrule.

And, the thing about females running thigs is an accepted fact in marketing. Females make nearly all major decisions in American households.

That's why a lot of marketing is targeted at them and tends to make "husbands" seem like bad decisionmakers or unimportant.

Women need to be taught critical thinking skills and confronted when each new fad comes up.

I love how on this forum women are simultaneously weak minded children AND powerful tyrants dominating their menfolk and controlling government policy.
