The general political leanings of feminists don't strike me as conservative but rather as left wing and often radical. As an example- the pink hat brigade. This is mainstream feminism afaik. I broadly deem that group as solidly politically and culturally leftist. I would agree that there are cafeteria feminists who pick and choose to ultimately cobble together a worldview comprised of some feminist and some conservative ideas as it suits the individual's needs.

I guess I don't really see biology affirming (I don't even know the phrase, because it's so ridiculous that there needs to be a word/phrase for that LOL), anti-prostitution, anti-promiscuity, anti-gender ideology as anything but conservative. The pussyhats things is so wild to me.

Wasn’t Ellen Page one of those types that would attack others for taking certain roles? Seems a tad hypocritical. I don’t want to hear about how they are underrepresented in acting either. It’s already a tiny fraction of the population and then you divide it even further with a very specific community like acting and of course there aren’t going to be many of them.

Anti-promiscuity? I was under the impression that a core tenant of second wave feminism was sexual liberation.

Am I misinformed on these points?

As far as anti-gender ideology, maybe feminists are out in full force advocating for the worldview in which there are only two genders but I have not seen evidence of such. If anything I see an embrace of the LGBTQ cause.

Intersectionality of peace. The infighting between the various sects of leftists is increasing. There was an article the other day with the headline "Straight black men are the white people of black people." I welcome my black brothers into the oppressors club. We meet Tuesday nights and rotate responsibility for snacks... If things continue like this, the only way this can end is with literally every group being labelled as problematic. The biggest threat to North America is petty infighting over stupid **** because we live too comfortable of lives to face any real threats.

That said, live your life however you want, Elliot. I can think of a couple of reasons that someone might have identified as lesbian but actually be trans (e.g., born intersex and assigned female, became lesbian in early 2000s when trans community not as visible). But what I don't get is the pronouns thing. If you're a trans male then why wouldn't you want to use male pronouns (he/him), especially if you're cool with using "he"? Him isn't ok but he is? Also, what if everyone just picked whatever damn pronoun they wanted and then you have to memorize everyone's pronouns with no real rhyme or reason to it? I already have enough trouble remembering people's names.

I think trans is logical given the presence of rare conditions that could lead to the incorrect sex being assigned at birth, but it really doesn't follow logically that you would then need different pronouns if it's simply a matter of being assigned the wrong sex at birth. Just take the damn pronouns that come with the sex you transition to. Transitioning has no effect on me and I don't care, but this picking pronouns for "reasons" is a slippery slope and feels like a "look at me" thing or a power thing (I'll make you call me whatever I want even if it doesn't make sense).
