Identity politics is something the Democrat party pushes. I've come to view ******** and a few other tech companies as an arm of the Democrat political party. Sad to see that ******** is going to allow hate against white people and men to be allowed. I'm not surprised though that they would do this.

I did see too the other day that the Trump administration brought a lawsuit against ******** for discrimination against American workers. The case concerns ******** hiring foreign workers over American born workers. I've wondered if this is ********s retaliation to the Trump administrations actions. I'm guessing it is.

At this point, anyone using the internet is compromised. Obviously, you can minimize some of the exposure, but not completely. Given the dramatic change in the way society communicates/interacts you almost have to make yourself a 'little' vulnerable and I've accepted that.

My broader point was that we need to collectively stop subsidizing corporations that are undermining numerous facets of fundamentally necessary (and successful) Western culture. Maybe, BB.com is a part of that of that degradation, but who knows because the corporate shell game is tediously difficult to discern.

Additionally, traditional social media platforms have extreme psychological consequences. We're seeing it manifest in real time with each new generation. Human beings are not wired to have social circles numbering in the many hundreds or thousands. Such environments exacerbate depression, erode self-esteem, threaten nuclear families, and paralyze decision-making through over-exposure and the paradox of choice.

Think of it in real, easy-to-understand terms -- I'm old enough to remember the world before the introduction of cell/smart phones and even the internet. In High School, the web was only in its infancy and social circles were very small. Self-esteem, potential relationships, relative success, comparative experiences, etc were generally similar and limited. The truly beautiful, handsome, successful, intelligent, and talented were statistical outliers. Now, you see those rare traits everywhere because human beings celebrate the exceptional and those minority have ridiculously powerful platforms on which they thrive. That heavily influences the psyche whether the individual is willing to admit it or not; especially among the young and impressionable.

So, yes, social media is cancer for numerous reasons and it would be of great benefit if more people developed enough self-awareness to let all but the most necessary, go.

that's not the only point though. some may treat misc as trying to further their identity. but i think it's inherent with the other social medias with your identity attached to it..

i do think the anonymity of misc opens up a subset of potentials, but again, i would say regular social media is in the more INHERENTLY vain, narcissistic, self interested group.

e.g. misc CAN be used for self-gain, social media IS used for self-gain

i have contributed to convos, i have chit posted, but i really have no desire to create a misc persona, to become popular here, or to carve out a pseudo life
