Tobey's not a good actor and he wasn't a good Spiderman, people just hype him up because of nostalgia and because he was the first.

Same with Keaton as Batman, I like the movies and I like him as an actor but he's nowhere near Bale, Affleck or even Kilmer.

Having said that, I'm looking forward to both of these multiverse stories.

I doubt even Marvel/Disney would be willing to pump out big bucks to have three leading Spiderboyos in a film like this.

For one thing, he was too old. Although Tobey was kind of old too.

But to me the problem was the script. It was too much like the Tobey Spider-Mans. I mean, the entire first half of Amazing Spider-Man is literally another origin story!

I think that Keaton was as good as Affleck and Bale, they were all just different Batman's. IMO Keaton played Bruce Wayne really well as a straight cut rich guy who is putting on a face to the world, and had good chemistry with Michelle Pfeiffer.

Bales' Bruce Wayne was chronically conflicted, and Affleck's was broody. I can't remember Kilmer's.

For me Batman Returns is as good as The Dark Knight, because they are very different styles. Gothic surrealism and 'realism'.

They are really the only current adventure movies that are well done, and they have almost a folk lore level bunch of characters people really know an identify with.

Back in the 50s and 60s they used to make a lot of Bible movies and superheroes are close the the modern version of that.

I liked Tobey but his Spiderman focused too much on the hard sad aspects of being a hero.

In the comics, Spiderman would go through troubles, but he was always more of a witty, Robin Hood type with a good sense of humor. The current Spiderman has him like that more than a sad struggling person.

There has NEVER been a good live action Batman.

Batman is motivated by childhood trauma that turned him into a cold calculating Sherlock Holmes Ninja. There has never been a film that shows him as an angry genius who is focused and driven to the point of selling dressing as he does, etc.

If Batman was real, he would be intense as the most intense person who could ever imagine.

He wouldn't be "falling in love" or thinking about retiring, etc. I doubt he'd be "brooding" "cracking jokes" or any of it.

What they never show is how angry he is that crime ruined his life. The whole point of Batman is that he's like a crazy "Doc Savage" who was a character who constantly worked on self improvement to fight crime. That's what Batman does and there's no time for anything else, because if he relaxes, some other little kid's parents are going to get murdered, like his did with no one to help him.

I do not understand why they can't get this character right.

Bale could have EASILY played that character but Nolan made him like a stupid Batman.

Thank you, I will watch!

The fact about Batman is that he is a disciplined "crazy person" and his enemies tend to be the same kind of person, only not kind like Batman is.

Batman is a Film Noir character and it that type of story a good person lives in or goes to the city and gets broken by all the perverts than live in a capitalist city.

They NEVER make that movie.

DC makes GREAT animation but never gets the films right, it is weird.

They need to make a film noir Batman that has him being a DETECTIVE. From what I hear, the new Batman movie will focus on his detective side. I've always said they should just adapt the Animated Series into a live action movie, sort of like how Arkham Asylum adapted it for video games.

Well, that's one way to look at Batman. I personally think him constantly brooding about his parents' death into his 30s and 40s undermines his mental strength, even if it was the driving factor in the beginning.

A lot of people agree with you, though, and I think Affleck came closest to this portrayal in BvS. Shame that movie was such a phucking trainwreck in every other way.

It's a shame Jon Hamm is too old now, he could have made a killer Batman if it had been straight after Mad Men ended. I'm excited for Pattinson's movie, though, with the noir focus.

I'm all for a live action Spider-Verse, but I feel like it's too quick to do one. The next story should be about Spider-Man running from Kraven and that whole battle. Then in Spider-Man 4 make it so that after he beats Kraven, he needs to escape, and Dr. Strange throws him into a separate universe with another Spider-Man, and then go from there. Right now I just feel like it won't work in the overarching premise of the story. But again, I could be wrong, Marvel/Disney have proven to make hit after hit so I'll hold judgement, but right now I'm kind of on the fence.

"Because the thing about repairing, maintaining, and cleaning is it’s not an adventure. There’s no way to do it so wrong you might die. It’s just work. And the bottom line is, some people are okay going to work, and some people … well, some people would rather die. Each of us gets to choose.”
