How impressive is a 405 deadlift?

I’ve heard people say it’s “advanced” lifting territory and I’ve heard others say it’s as mediocre as a 200lb bench

A 405 kgs deadlift is top 1% and extremely impressive.

I would say it's aight if you're in decent shape. A 200lb male who has been lifting a few years should be at a 400lb deadlift all day imo. You'll see a lot of high schoolers in power lifting here who weigh sub 200 hitting 400-450 and it's decent for their age.

Even as a senior (so long ago) I weighed in at 185 with a 450 dl. I did well for my bracket, but it wasn't crazy either.

405 kgs would be very impressive. :P

In your average commercial gym, you’ll probably be one of the strongest guys there present during that session. Forget the standards you see on Instagram, where every **** is deadlifting 7 plates for 10.

If you’re at a powerlifting gym though, well that’s very different.

Farm boys can deadlift that on their first try. IMO 500 is the beginning of "intermediate" level.

This

600 is advanced. OP I've took a year off and on my first day back I could still deadlift 405 at 170lbs, it was ugly as hell and RPE 10 but it still went up

It's impressive but not in the eyes of the misc where everyone deadlifts 600+. Keep it up

Yeah not impressive. I see plenty of people pulling 405, its quite common. 495 starts slightly impressive territory in my opinion.

Tempted to neg half the people ITT.
405s decent OP. Depends on your size really, as with most lifts.

I can rep out a few 435s, but I’m a framecel at 175 5’10”, so do with that what you will.

Also, I only ever see like 1-2 other guys at most gyms I’ve gone to that dl more than that.

It's impressive to pretty much all normies and most noobs/casual gym bros.

Na, 405 just really isn’t that impressive, there is a group of High schoolers at my gym pulling that. I can pull 5 plates which isnt that good either, but I dont even train DLs, there’s a few dudes smaller than me at my gym who can pull 6+. Full disclosure its a PL/BB gym, but why would you judge standards based on commercial Gyms when no one there really lifts. .

Good description. It's a decent lift and a good place to be at for a casual lifter, but it's not really impressive.
I would compare it to a 220-240 bench.
