Then why bother with a treadmill unless you're trolling? It will take you 2 hours of running uphill to burn 1 kitkat.

This is the only logical reason. I can't imagine having to choose 1 piece of equipment and it being a treadmill even if it had to be a cardio type. Would rather have one of the nice elevator stairs or row machine.

Better to just rent one. You'll figure out how little you actually use it
A young bull and an old bull were standing atop a hill looking at a bunch of heifers in a field below.

The young bull says "Let's run down this hill and fuk one of those heifers."

The old bull replies "No. Let's walk down there, and fuk them all."

Get a Rogue Echo bike. Best cardio investment I made for ****ty weather. I run 2-3x a week outside at the track and try to get 2-3 sessions on my rogue echo bike. You will not be disappointed but you also need to clean up your diet.

a serious reply for you.
the treadmill is about 1500 bucks used, so if you are super focused, goal oriented, and in the zone, then invest in one.
If you are unsure, pay for a gym day pass and try one out and then decide if you like them enough to invest in it.
i got one years go but prefer fresh air, the gym environment, and rarely if ever use it, so it was a waste of money.
good luck.

I have recently converted to the Peloton cult. I wanted to hate this thing so bad, but fuark, it's awesome, they have top notch instructors and classes (not just bike mind you), and the game-fication of it make it super engaging. From badges to competing with people cycling right then, it keeps you wanting to do more. I am 2 rides away from the century club. I do it for 20 minutes before every single lifting session.

How would you know? You can't even run on a treadmill being 300 lbs. You have no idea how many calories get burned.

I've run on a treadmill uphill, and after 30 minutes i'm lucky to have burned 150 calories.
Considering your slow pace if you attempt it, you'll burn 200 calories per hour.
2 hours = 400 calories - 1 kitkat.
But continue to think that you'll lose weight running for 5 minutes a day and being out of breath while stuffing yourself with huge amounts of unhealthy foods.

Smh @ bloatcels.

It is worth it, put a TV in front of it go. I have had a treadmill, bike and elliptical. The only one I've kept and continuously used is the treadmill. They are a lot more versatile than people think. For a guy like yourself looking to start a weight loss program you can start out walking slow, when that gets easy walk at the same pace but at a 5 degree incline. Then either add a slow jog or more incline. Put a show on the tv and you zone out and find the time goes by quite quickly. Also to avoid knee pain invest in some good shoes. Forever I used cheap shoes and always had knee pain after a run. I never put much into the "invest in good shoes" advice till I went and spent money on a good pair and the knee ache completely disappeared.

I've got a treadmill, spin bike, and a concept2 rower, all commercial grade and out of all three, the treadmill is the one I use the most. If you want to lose weight, the treadmill is the one to get. Because of the pandemic and working from home, I'm on it constantly. Can watch TV while on it, surf the net on my tablet while on it, listen to music and zone out while on it. I average 15 miles a day, with 4 miles of it running and the rest just 3mph walking split up in 1 hour segments throughout the day.

Now the downside. 1. It's hard on the knees. I have a Life Fitness club series with shock absorption, but you'll still feel impact on the knees. 2. I've developed heel pain from all the walking. Nothing I can't muddle through with, but still a bit uncomfortable. 3. I got down to my lowest body weight in my adult life, but it wasn't all fat, I lost a lot of muscle as well.

There are downsides to the spin bike and rower also. You won't be able exercise on it as long as you would like, mostly due to chafing issues from sitting for a prolonged period and not because of muscle fatigue. My two cents.

Out of a rower, bike and treadmill it seems like everyone here uses a treadmill the most.

Treadmill might be the way to go
