The more she makes than the more of a problem it’s going to be. Women date up for the most part, sometimes across. They don’t date down. People saying it doesn’t affect their feeling of masculinity are missing the point that it will start affect HER perception of who/what she deserves. Statistics bear this out, unfortunate as it might be (genuinely no shade here)

This is along the lines of what I’m thinking, I couldn’t see my gf breaking up with me down the road due to out earning me. I don’t have any experience with this at all though and I don’t want to be naive, but based on her personality etc I just wouldn’t see it happening

Dont care. Don't see an issue as long as you have a good career and can take care of the family.

If you are a loser making min wage and she is making 100k+ a year then yea I can see that becoming an issue.

Basically if you're competent and have a good career yourself, I wouldn't worry if she's making more. It's mostly about being able to respect you than whether they make more than you or not.
If we both earned our maximum potential income it’d be 85k for me 130k for her. But my career choice is something I’m passionate about and she’s always been supportive of that, so I wouldn’t see that being an issue.

IMO it's not particularly important if one earns more than the other, it's more about what you both bring to the table in terms of the relationship. That includes money but obviously there's many other factors.

I think the meme about not having her make more than you is because:

- having a time-intensive career (which goes with big money) is hard on relationships

- it's not great if the girl wears the pants, which may be more likely to happen with a driven career woman

- guys on this forum are horrifically insecure
Yeah I could see those factors definitely playing a role. I don’t have any insecurities at all especially related to self worth etc which is probably why I don’t see it as an issue. I could see that being a reason for some to be against it, apart from other logical points mentioned ITT.

Your looks is all that matters. Doesn't matter if she's a CEO and you work at McDonalds, if you are better looking than her, you have SOME security in the relationship.

If you earn less and you're not more attractive than her, it's only a matter of time until she monkey branches.

only acceptable if you have an alpha respectable low paying career (like you are a CIA ops agent or fighter pilot married to a female doctor or lawyer).

My gf earns more than because I helped her advance her career by helping with developing career based motivation and overcoming career hurdles. In fact, if it weren't for me she'd literally be in the job she was when I met her because she was always getting caught up in bizarre social arguments instead of treating her workplace like a job. I'm smarter than her and could easily get to a six figure job in 3-4 years by bouncing off a mid-level analyst role into a niche role, but I really don't want to be a wage slave.

Post lifting endorphins of peace so I’ll give a mostly unfiltered answer, we’re both attractive enough to where it’s hard to be objective, some of my friends think I’m better looking some don’t.

I’m not worried about that though, she wouldn’t put up with a quarter of my chit if she didn’t find me attractive enough tbfh.

Getting married is something I definitely want to do if I find the right girl, and so far she is.

I highly doubt I’d propose before we both start our careers so I might be able to tell if her attitude changes before then. She is actually good with money though apart from spending a lot on clothes but it’s not that bad. If anything I might be worse, I’m prettt minimalistic but I spend a lot eating out and doing chit with friends

When we got married, I was +$15K compared to my wife. After we relocated to a different state, she started getting better increases than I did and after 15 or so years finally passed me. She was about +$10K up me when we retired. Was weird at first, but really didn't make any difference because we always had our finances set up for each having our own money and both contributing percentage-wise to our household account based on income. For the majority of the time I paid a larger % into our joint account because I made more, but the last few years, she put more in.

We never had an argument about money because our split was fair and we each had our own for whatever we wanted to spend on individually.

I would love for a chick to make more money than me but that is very very rare considering I make 200k and the percent of women making that or more is like 1% at best.

On the flip side it makes for way more divorces.

Although I bring a lot more to the table, I wouldn’t allow it to happen for too long. I’m well aware of the dynamic between money and relationships, girls dating up etc. Basically it would light a huge fire under my ass to earn way more, by whatever means necessary

wife makes quite a bit more than me (top 1% for her age), but my career has more prestige attached to it, so it balances out the forces

Difference is to find a woman that isn’t some status seeking corporate climbing bimbo that needs a man to put her in her place financially

I’ve dated several doctors in my day. Surprisingly a lot of them are in relationships with guys that don’t make a ton of money. Only risk is getting cucked by alpha doctor but tbh most doctors are beta nerds

When we got married, I was making more than my husband.

Now he makes a lot more than me. lol. Like 1.5x more than me.
Thus let me live, unseen, unknown;
Thus unlamented let me die;

How people?

If she divorces you, then she loses more money than you.

Sounds like it's worth it as a guy. Take that money and find a poorer hotter girl.
