Relax buddy, most people I know didn't do jack for Christmas and won't be doing anything for NYE either.
He's right, though. There's going to be another 2-300,000 deaths or more.

I think a real reason of why we have been so "devastated" by COVID is largely due in part to it being highly politicized here. There is no gain for media ratings in S. Korea, no election coming up, universal healthcare with no ulterior motive, and definitely not Amazon lobbying to keep small businesses closed. If someone makes a $100B in 3 months (personal wealth, not company revenue) , red flags should come up,regardless

The US has used and abused COVID as a weapon more than anything.

We've had stricter lockdowns to a place with a similar climate (ND) and have had 1/8 the amount of deaths. I suppose if we had even stricter lockdowns in place less people would have died.

Anything in that statement you take issue with?

Have high school kids not been at home since Dec 1? Is everyone not working from home? Just because the lockdowns are not perfect, does not mean they dont' work.

Let's do some maths.

295,679 Deaths INVOLVING covid (not from)
281,303 Deaths involving Pneumonia with or without Covid, excluding influenza
136,016 pneumonia, including covid, excluding influenza
446,832 pneumonia, covid, or influenza.

That means:

145,287 have died from JUST Pneumonia (Just FYI, the yearly norm is about 50K. Why the 300% increase?)
159,663 Deaths involving Covid, but not Pneumonia (Remember this is a respiratory disease, so what are these people actually dying from? Answer: not covid)
310,000 Deaths involving influenza or pneumonia, excluding covid. (Keyword: Involving)
164,713 Deaths involving influenza, excluding pneumonia and covid. (Last few years it was 80K, why the 200% increase? Why does CDC say only 8000 people died from the flu? Answer: because hospitals are not paid extra)

The numbers don't add up. Never before this year would so many deaths have been attributed to covid, and they are minimizing how many people have died with influenza. More people died with pneumonia and influenza than ever before, but no one is acknowledging it.

Scamdemic.

Learn to post sources next time you try to make a mathematical argument instead of some random image. You have to compare apples to apples and not a random set of data points using 1 collection method vs a set of data points using another collection method. This image says nothing and is useless. Even in your own image, it shows percentage of expected deaths is at 111%. So that blows your own argument out of the water.

NyTimes took their time and did the work for you using proper methodology. This year we have 377k more deaths than was expected. COVID is the logical reason for this unless you are a zealous fake news advocate which you seem to be.

https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/...h-toll-us.html

"Methodology

Total death numbers are estimates from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which are based on death certificates counted by the centers and adjusted to account for typical lags in the reporting of deaths.

Our charts show weekly deaths above or below normal. They include weeks in which the C.D.C. estimates the data to be at least 90 percent complete or estimated deaths are above expected death numbers. Because states vary somewhat in their speed in reporting deaths to the federal government, these state charts show death trends for slightly different time periods. We have not included weeks in which reported deaths were less than 50 percent of the C.D.C. estimate.

Expected deaths were calculated with a simple model based on the weekly number of all-cause deaths from 2017 to 2019 released by the C.D.C., adjusted to account for trends, like population changes, over time.

Excess death numbers are rounded."

That said, you literally just said the man was 86 years old when covid got the best of him. 86. EIGHTY-SIX years old. That is 6 1/2 years older than the average age of death in males in the U.S. state with the highest life expenctancy rates (Hawaii). 1 year older than the average female age of death rates in the same state.

Again, let me be very clear, here. Once again, sorry for your loss, srs. It's awful news regardless of how old the family friend you mentioned was when he died from a covid infection. However, I have to emphasize logic here. You said the man made it to 86. That's a good, long life. Countless people don't even get to live life for half that long. Basing your opinions about all the covid stuff off ancedotal stories about people well into their 80's dying from it is just ridiculous. I keep hearing examples like this being made to sound like young, healthy people are dropping like flies in the streets from it. Be reasonable, ffs...

Only idiots discount a life. So abortions shouldn’t be a problem then, they never have even lived a life, but something tells me you’re pro life.

I don't think anyone is reallydiscountinga life, rather discounting the supposed cause of death. The man may have died of any slew of respiratory diseases and (a year ago or even now) it may not have been COVID that killed him, like the other 300K deaths. A large part of which come from nursing homes and corrupt governors sending positive patients back. It certainly is going to help reduce the SSI burden in the coming administration.

I'm not bent out of shape, I'm questioning your anecdote.

And I really hate to pull this card, but maybe that attitude explains the death per 100k stats per country.

You could justify that by a strong economy, but is America doing any better in that respect?

Averaging well over 60,000 per week, 11% Excess (300k) for the year.
Simple reason the "excess deaths" are artificially high. They don't factor in how we have a natural increase of 40,000 deaths per year. It's been that way for over a decade before Covid. There should be 2.92 million deaths in 2020. Once the provisional death counts are updated (always a few weeks behind) the tally is 3.13-3.14 million through December 31st. So210-220K extra deaths.Murders are up 28% and this is by far the biggest year of overdoses in our history. Other lockdown related deaths are in the many tens of thousands too. All of those have to be subtracted for a directly Covid related death count.

Um, where do you see that?2,839,205 million people died last year. We'd expect at least 2.9 million this year. NOTHING is out of the ordinary, except the way deaths are being counted.

Straight from the CDC. **** off with your nytimes. lulz.

There has been no excess deaths. They are automatically counting covid deaths as excess when it's not true.

Sure. You'd have to be a complete moron to think that some of the people that died of covid wouldn't have died in 2020 regardless.

The number I've seen is around 2/3 are actual lost lives.

There has been no excess deaths.
Listen, Mr 140 iq man, spend a little more time with those stats and get back to me in the covid thread.

I'll do a rep reset bet with you that there is over 3 million all cause deaths for 2020, as per cdc.

Examine the numbers and dates very carefully.

Here's a hint: count the number of weeks

Straight from the CDC. **** off with your nytimes. lulz.

There has been no excess deaths.
It says it in your own chart you buffoon. Look at percentage of expected deaths column. It says 111. Excess deaths, 111%. Also, post the actual header next time when you upload a screenshot. Week Ending February 1, 2020 to 12/26/2020. There was no coronavirus in January so not counting a month will obviously skew any year to year comparisons you make. Gotta be one of the dumbest posters I've encountered on here and that's no small feat.

Bruh, you are not getting it. The deaths are not from covid.

Stop being so narrow-minded that you only look at one number to support your bias.

Imagine being so arrogant you'd tell anyone who would listen to you that this all is fake, without fact checking yourself.

Completely reckless moron.

I swear I negged you back in the spring when you thought mortality rate was 14%. I'm going to see if I can find that thread.

You don't have everyone fooled, you're literally dumb as cement.
